Kerry Sterner Sea Vixen build
#1

My las build ( Turbinator ) ended up sometime in March last year ( 2020 ) since then I've been looking for something worth building, I was cruising on RCU and a thread took me to a vid of the Sea Vixen, then I found out that Kerry Sterner has done a set of plans for a 76.5, 31 lbs jet, then I found out that Nick Ziroli sells them + some other part for it and it took off from there.
I ended up on a new site for me, RC scale builders.com where I found a thread dedicated to the building of Kerry Sterner's Sea Vixen, there I founded out that one has been maiden a month ago by Dave W. from Motors and Rotors, I pm him and got the go ahead to build it, you won't be disappointed he said.
That was it for me, my mind was made up, I found my next build and now I'm committed on the build, it will take about a year and half to complete, I have decided to fiberglass and paint this model, it will be my first fiberglassing and second painting in 32 years of modeling.
The plans have been ordered from NZ, the kit most likely will come from Australia ( none of the kit cutters in the US cuts this kit ) parts for the Fowler flaps will come from the UK, the rest from NZ ( nose cone, intakes, retracts and struts, wood and wheels )
This is going to be a fun build and planning to enjoy all of it.

Hi Carlos,
I spoke to Dave Wilshire today about the cones etc, send me a PM if you are interested (and of course building a FAW2 model!)
Welcome to the KS Sea Vixen building club. its a good design and although complex it was fun to build.
cheers
Dave

I went to HD to get me a new door and a sheetrock for the build, I will be doing a spring cleaning/inventory on all my tools, glues and all the other stuff, time to consolidate again 😳
Paul (JSF-TC ) contacted me, he has a short kit with some of the parts needed to complete the jet, I'm getting this kit from him soon and this is the kit that I'm building, the build will start in about two weeks, the plans were shipped today from Nick Ziroli and should arrive next week.

Carlos - Looks like you are clearing the way to begin the Vixen build. Like Dave said, we and others are here to assist at any point. Again, welcome aboard. One suggestion, make it possible to walk around the table, while building, will certainly make construction easier. Chic

I had a chance to do a quick review of the plans, they are very clear and have lots of details and notes, Kerry has done a super job creating these plans.
The thing I was most interested on was to see if they have been recently revised and YES! they were revised by Kerry S. in 2019, he also added one or two more sheets for the V2 booms and the air brake, all this came about because of Dave B. and Chic, Mr: Straner worked with them to come up with the new revisions.

Now it's time me to study and understand the plans, read the instructions and start formulating steps and mods to be added, I will be doing that next week.
Right away I've decided to reinforce the gear ribs and gear mounts, add a second servo to the elevator, build a different wing locking mechanism and few other small things, all of these changes will be internals.
