Default Customs fees on international shipment from Italy??

So I'm looking at buying a jet kit from Italy(Italy to U.S). I've never bought anything big outside of the U.S before and I'm curious what the process is like and what percentage of customs fees I can expect to pay? Would I need to hire a customs broker or is this something I can handle without to much hassle? Also, if it makes any difference, it would be an air shipment, not container. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Default

USA Customs does not charge an import fee on model airplanes parts/pieces. The shipper may be an entirely different story, be very careful there as UPS and FedEx can be REALLY expensive with various un regulated shipping/Customs fees......
