Isn't Spectrum and JR basically the same?

A friend (another Aussie) based in the US uses Spektrum on some very large & ambitious models including
turbine jets and is a previous Top Gun. I realise that he has a commercial interest with Spektrum but if the
system was basically flawed would he be using it? He's not a serial crasher but he is meticulous with installations
& set-up.

As a jet & large model inspector (Australian requirement) there appears to be a trend to load more & more gimicky
equipment into models which the modellers, sellers & manufacturers don't fully understand. Transmitters are now
incredibly sophisticated but are now smarter than the people using them with features 90% of modellers will never use.

I'm no luddite but simple is better. I'll quote Bill (Learjet) Lear -Strive for simplicity. You never have to fix what you leave out.

FWIW I've never had a problem with Futaba.

They used to be up all the way to the JR12X.

The 12X was JR's last top tier radio that featured Spektrum RF technology (DSM2 & DSMX).

JR's latter radios featured JR's own RF protocol called DMSS, ie no longer Spektrum based RF protocol.
