Oakdale Aircraft F-35 construction
Hi guys.
I have recently purchased a laser cut kit of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter from Oakdale Aircraft in the USA. I am starting this thread to show how the kit is put together, and to maybe help other people who are building this plane. I must say up front, that the kit is not the one they produce for the Toki .21 , but the one that is "sized-up" for at 12 pound turbine. I will be fitting my SimJet 1200 in it. Here are some pictures fro the first night in my shop. I have not glued anything yet,--just taken som pics of the kit parts, and done a rough "build-up" of the parts, to se how they come togehter. So far I am very pleased with the quality of the parts.

Hey Todd.
Yes, I still have my Eurosport. I have about 100 flights on it so far, and now it is winter time in Denmark, so it's absolutely NO FUN being out on the field flying my ES, so I have started this project and I have a Avonds F-16 Deluxe Kit waiting also.
TP777fo: I can not tell you what the real price is, but I would guess about 300 US dollars. It is about 66 inches long. You could send a mail dirctly to Russ Ahlberg at Oakdales. He usually replies very quickly. E-mail [email protected]

Construction of the rear part of the fuse is now in progress. I want to modify the formers, to make plug-in wings for easier transportation. The formers in the wing/engine bay/uc area are all double formers.

Thanks for sharing your construction experience. I'm installing a 12lb turbine in one of the kits and will test taxiing it this weekend. Let me know if you need any assistance.
Cheers. Aldous.

Hello Florent.
I got the kit from Oakdale Aircraft http://www.oakdaleaircraft.com in the USA. The specs will differ if you chosse to build a A, B or C version of the JSF. I beleive mine C-version will be about 70 inches long.

Hi Stig,
Newer picts have all the internal details covered up, thus make things 'nothing special' from a scratch construction point of view. Anyhow, fuse after planking will look like this. Underside is halfly planked which allow mounting of fin and taileron after taxi testing.

The fuse is now almost finished for skinning. Wingroot and fin base are mounted. The front and rear parts of the fuse have been glued together.

Now it's time to start working on the wings. I have a 3-view drawing of the plane that I am using.

Hello Aldous.
As far as I can see, there is only a root base.
Right now I am working on the internal ducting. Soon I will start working on the flying surfaces. (Sorry, no pics today)

Hi Stig,
I have the fin and taileron drawings ready and will pass it to Russ. Here is a pict of them. Note that there is a "step" on both the fin and taileron. I included it to retain the scale look. The step on the fin is big enough to house a mini servo for rudder control.
Hope this helps.
