RE: L39/Wren 44 Pics and video
I would go with too much gas!
Does the ECU/engine start pumping fuel?
This should happen at 100C.
As has also been pointed out, make sure starter battery is up to it.

I need help!
I have had an L-39 for almost a year and haven't flown it yet.
Let me tell you what has happened. I put an autostart MW44 on it but cannot get it to run. When I installed it I accidently reversed the gas and fuel line. I corrected the problem but still no luck. I then found I had a servo that was interfering with the RPM sensor. I corrected that. Now when I try to start it it goes through the start sequence but then heats up over 800 degrees and shuts down.
I emailed Wren about three weeks ago about the problem. Sara emailed me back about a week later and told me they needed more information. I emailed her back and haven't heard from them since.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do? I had problems with a MW54 overheating. There was a problem with the combustion chamber. Sara said they didn't think this was the problem. Am I using too much gas or do I possibly have a leak in my fuel line? It seems to sputter as it begins to run on Kero.
Thanks for any help.
Hal

My gas regulator is open only 1 1/2 to 2 turns on my MW44 Gold Autostart. Starts fast and clean. It WAS open almost 4 turns and starts were hot. Hope this helps.

Hi Guys I am finishing up my Savex L-39 with a new Wren 44-Gold, I built the motor mount per the plan on this thread and installed it a 85mm from the rear edge of the opening. My problem is that the mouthwash bottles I am using as tanks (500 ml each) don't fit next to the on board starter, so I must put them in frt of it and then they end up way fowards of the CG. Does anyone have any experience with this. I can't find The 500ml plax bottles , they may fit next to the starter. Any suggestion welcome, here are some pics of my problem.

Hi, I would be interested to try either the L39 and or the Eurofighter with a Jet Central Super Bee engine. Could either airframe cope with a little more weight without detracting too much from the inherently good flight manners ?
Thanks for your opinions, Rob.

People have squeezed the MW54 in and it goes like a bullet. You should manage the same, with the Bee. However the reports I have heard is that flight times are short and the wing loading is very high.

Hi Henry,
Thanks for the advice, I am assuming then that you have not heard of anyone using a Super Bee ? On the face of it I think it's 75mm casing size should drop in easy enough; so maybe not so much of a squeeze ? Weight-wise it's somewhere between the MW44/54 so will give higher wing loading but hopefully not too much ? I don't know what the wing area is, would be easy enough to work out the increase in loading. I believe the L39 can be bought with flaps, this would certainly help a deal to slow things down for landing.
I have the latest version Super Bee so have been looking around at different airframe combinations to try it in. As I've heard so many positive things about the Savex L39 I thought I would ask a few feasability questions.
Maybe if someone has a spare airframe yet they could try it ?
Possibly an interesting project I think.
Rob.

it's just that it won't land without the flaps deployed. the plane doesn't bleed off enough speed and stays too high. It might work on a much longer runaway than the one I'm using though...
The plane doesn't really stall, it just sinks a little bit, and keeps the wings level. This plane is very nice and very forgiving.

Hi all,
First 2 flights of the year on my L39, great to fly again, prefect blue skies, no wind ...perfect!
Had adjusted flaps from "all you can get" (almost 90 deg!) to about 45 deg drop as i was having real problems with the handling with so much drag. The reduction in flap made handling much nicer, easily cruising around on half throttle with the flaps down, but the glide went on for ages....i cut the power to idle on the cross leg and after making final turn and easing in was still carrying too much speed for our 40m grass strip, so will add a tiny bit more back in.
So good to get back in the air again.
Dave have you flown your l39 yet? Noticed your hawk on e-bay!

RE: L39/Wren 44 Pics and video
I'm trying to set the thrustline of my jet pipe and then use that as the reference point for motor placement. Savex sends a scale dwg. of the aircraft showing profile and aircraft centerline. It would indicate that the plane flies with the nose down slightly. Is this what you guys used to set original installation? I'm centering the pipe in the rounded portion of the tail with the same clearance at 3 , 6 , 9 o-clock looking from rear. The problem is the front bellmouth. If measuring down from the wing saddle to centerline of pipe or edge of bell what dimension is correct? Also I'm guessing since most models needed nose weight that you wan't to keep pipe and engine as far forward as posible. In reference to what Jack said about the tanks is the single wren tank an option? Thanks Doug

Hi
If you lookon earlier posts you will see details of the engine mount and position.
This sets the hight correctly.
Yes, centre on the rounded section of the rear.
Great videos chaps, any more out there?

Has anyone used Eurokit struts on their L39. I am sure I have seen it somewhere in this thread but I am too lazy to look through all the posts.
I would like to know which Euro kit struts (Mains and Nose) are the best for the Savex L39
Thanks

Hi All...
I started to read this "huge" [>:] thread about 3-4 weeks ago, then I knew I had to get one for sure. Emailed to Vaclav for inquiery about the kit / payment method the second week of April, paid on April 10th, then.... I expected the LONG WAIT I had come to expect from reading this thread. and SURPRISE : The kit was here (Switzerland) on April 21st !!! That was less than 10 days from the date of the payment (incl. payment clearing time)
Not bad isn't it`??? Choose the Breitling scheme, kit is of excellent quality and painting very well done. Had wondered about buying either MW44/Siimjet700 or the new Behotec J55HP2 (only 200 gr. heavier for twice the trust) but
concluded that MW44 was probably a better match so I'm about to order one. Tanks will be Graupner + BVM UAT, servos up front with internal command "Ã* la Yann", Digitech landing gear on order so... will be ready for building soon.
I will have definitely spend more time reading this thread than waiting the kit to arrive... Cheers

In my simple experience, the two bottle system worked out by Paul Gray is much the best. The single tank system tends to allow fuel to collect at the front and you run out at 6-7minutes with between 1/4 and 1/3rd of your tank unused, The details are on page 4-5 of this thread. There is a side benefit in that for maintenance/repair it is much easier getting the bottles in and out. I use 6volts on my filling pump to as not to distort or create leaks in my various jounts or around the bottle tops. The fact that I take a little longer fill them is about the only negative although even then there is a positive in that there is less froth and fewer bubbles injected.
