Glennis and a few others made scale gear for the Mach 2 F-15 which is about the same size as the Byron. Check them out, as far as C of G don't know that one...

Hi,

I have all of the original paperwork, I will have to find them and email to you, I flew mine on 2 OS 91s. I have the turbine and pipe to convert, but I am working on other projects first.

I also have information and photos from someone in California or Florida who converted to a single 30# turbine with a bifracuated pipe.

I will try to send info from my office on Monday.

Hey John,

I just picked up a gorgeous Byron's F15 from Ron in Ohio......he's installed two OS 91 DF's for power and I'll likely go with this for the time being. I also got the instructions for the kit but no plans....did they come with the original kit and do you have them (if yes could I get a set)?

Would it be possible to get a copy of the information and photos for the conversion to a single 30# turbine with Bifracuated pipe....this would be the ulitmate combination.

Thanks so much...

Bill

Can do the scale legs also -

Thanks

Guys, I completely refurbished mine from one I bought on RCU. Call John Craig (304) 232-7511 as Iron Bay now has the old Byron line. He has all the parts and a new fuel regulator that will provide exact amount of fuel to your fans even when tanks are far away.
See also www.Ironbaymodels.com

The instruction book said throws work out to 1"
I copy:
"Elev (measured at root trailing edge) = 1"
Aileron travel 1" up 1" down
Rudder 1 " left/right
Measure the CG location down the middle of the fuselage at the tail pipe opening. a distance of 38 inches ahead of the end of the tailpipe is the average CG location."

I use 38 inches and used a trapeze method to balance upright w/ fuel loaded and gear up. Trapeze lets you see difference when you lower the gear. (CG comes out 5 inches from the back edge of the airbrake as another "rough" reference.)
I have slightly more aileron throw for faster rolls.
I use -24 expo on elev and ailerons for Futaba. Plane flies great single engine as I had 3 during initial test flights.
Also get the new wheels. They are harder rubber and will not roll of the rims. Happened to my test pilot on the 1st flight. I also filled nosewheel with rubber inserts (car R/C part).

John, where did you get turbine conversion kit from? I want to upgrade in a few years.
Mike sends

Tam of Tamjets sells the Byron bifurcated pipe. I bought mine from him. I have the original prototype byron f-15 with Rossi 81's. Still flys great. Also have a unbuilt kit i was going to convert to a Jetcat p120 turbine.

Not attempting to revive an old thread but I have a completely assembled Byron F15 Eagle never flown, painted, servos installed, brand new OS engines (never run) original box, manuals etc. Just never got around to locating a tarmac runway hence never flown. Even have a a carbon fiber tube for wings which is the only thing I did not install yet. I'm in WA.

I would love the F15 but the amount of money it would cost to get it wouldn’t work. Google says ur 2500 miles from me, one way. Thanks for checking.
