Default Turbine Oil in Ducted Fan Glow Fuel???

I heard second hand info that Turbine oil added to regular DF glow fuel provides significantly better lubrication for the lower end of the crank pin and conrod. Anyone know about this? Quantity? Brand? Here say?

Yes glow,

Add 1.5 ounces of Exxon 2380 turbine oil to 1 gallon of ducted fan fuel for better lubrication.

Larry Wolf at Jet Hanger Hobbies has been doing this for a number of years. If you call him he will be glad to talk to you about it.

I have been adding 3oz of 2380 to Omega for a long time. I do not know how much this helps engine life but is does seem to idle better. This stuff will turn Omega dark over time but it runs fine.

Where can someone buy just 1 quart, or maybe a gallon of turbine oil? Say in a big city like Houston?

I've had great success with adding Klotz Super-techniplate (couple ounces per gallon) to my fuel. works great in my experience

L8R

you can get 1 qt from your local county airport, assuming they sell JetA to the big birds.

I've too talked to Larry Wolfe about DF fuel, However he adds a "Generous" ounce of turbo oil to Regular Sport 15% fuel. He dislikes the "DF" fuel saying that it's 23-25% or so oil content is way too much. He uses garden veriety sport fuel which is around 16-18% oil and adds the turbo oil to that. I take generous ounce to mean about 2 ounces and this is what I've been doing to my OS46VX's and have had good luck so far.

GPB -

Turbine Oil is readily available in One Quart cans and there's a Full Scale supplier near Hobby Airport who sells it. However, the name escapes me now. It's over near Million Air on one of the back streets and someone there should be able to tell you exactly where it is.

Hey thanks for the info.... I am about 5 miles from Hobby and I know where Million Air is.... I will go look for it.
