Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Dave, I'm going to be in the Waldorf MD area over this coming weekend to visit my mother in a nursing home. Where is Potomac MD relative to Waldorf and if it's in reasonable driving range for a drive to visit your flying field on Saturday or Sunday, I'd enjoy doing that. Map Quest indicates there is a Potomac just outside the beltway and one west of Hagerstown.

Here is the field in Hagerstown, MD.

Very nice field and good group of guys
The next field down from me would be DCRC probably the one near Potomac.

Thanks Mike, I did some investigative work and convinced myself that Dave is a member of the DCRC club. It looks like quite a trip from the Southern MD area (Waldorf). I'd really like to get out there and visit. Their field looks like one of the best I've seen.

Yep, DCRC .. had the reaction out for the first flights of the season just this past weekend. we usually have a pretty good turnout of jets on a nice weekend, and I do expect to be out there Sat or Sun depending on WX.
Let me know when you might stop by .. we usually fly from noon onward since the sun is in our eyes in the AM...
And yes, we are fortunate to have a great field and a really great bunch of guys. Would love to see you.

John,
Mine had Wren SS which is very close to P70 power. Flew it off grass at the old RCFCBC field no problem. You should be fine at the Bellingham field.
The set-up I liked best was to run about 3/8" crow up on the ailerons and as much flap as U can get. Fly it to the deck under power and cut the throttle to land.

What do you guys think about 400 feet of grass with high trees at the departure end but reasonably clear for approach. I've limited my R54 to paved runways with 2000' or more. I'd really love to fly from our club field but the runway length and trees concern me. I'm confident that I can get out but returning may be a trick.

Gruntled, on my last visit (last fall) to my sisters home in LaPlata I visited your field. It was a breezy day and as I suspected, the place was vacant. That's a long walk from the gate to the field. I was curious about the vacant house just up the hill from the field. What's the scoop on that place? You're a lot closer than DCRC. Maybe I can find some time on Saturday to visit. The DC weather looks better on Saturday than Sunday.

John:
Yup - a very long walk from the gate. Believe me - we only drive it.

The house is our club's clubhouse. We hold meetings there and have our annual swap meet there, etc. Sorry you hit a day when nobody was there, but by all means come by on Saturday. There should be lots going on.

My Reaction has a Ram 500 about 12.5lb of thrust with smoke and I can get off our 250 ft runway with no problem. The only problem I have had was when the field was very wet and it was a struggle.

Will do. I will be out there sometime around 11-11:30. My son has soccer in the morning. I will have my orange Shokjet. I heard one or two other people might be bringing jets. I think I heard something about a C-ARF BAE Hawk.

Silly question to all Reaction builders
How long did you build for, one month or maybe two, I suppose it depends on what you want from this kit.
So how long for a standard build out the box?
Thanks
Marco

Are you being timed? A terminal illness?
