Yellow Aircraft offers a number of ARF jets. ElectroDynamics also offers an ARF jet. The P80 would be a very good choice.

Default Choices....

upperking- There are various choices available to you when selecting your first jet model/turbine combination....Heres one more!
I would highly recommend the fully composite Fiber Classics Kangaroo 2 for your first airframe and either the PST J600 (12lb thrust) full-auto start turbine ($2100 U.S.) or the TJT-3000 turbine (28lb thrust) full-auto start turbine ($3000 U.S.) to power your ROO with. There are also fully detailed independent reviews of our turbine engines via our website.... complete kits and ARF, RTF ROO combos also available via TJT.

Hi,
I'd suggest a SUPER REAPER from Mick Reeves. Less than $300 shipped from the UK. Cheap, easy to build, and simple, just what a trainer of any type should be. It's got fixed gear, plenty of room inside for all the equipment. You'll find it's not the cost of the kit, but all the accessories: retracts, brakes, brake valves, retract valves, special fuel tanks, etc that will put a big dent your wallet.
Monocote it and fly it, if you bang it up, it should be an easy repair. Built mine but haven't flown it yet, but everyone seems to like the way it flies.

Default More Choices

Hi upperking

As Marty said, there are various options available to the first time jet/turbine purchaser.

For air frames, the Kangaroo 2 and the Hot Spot are two good choices. Both will still require some building. The MB339 ARF from DL Aeromodels would be another good choice. Another good choice, but requires construction, is the AV8TR from PCM models. Very simple and straight forward construction and uses a 12 lb turbine.

As for engines, SimJet offers a complete line up from the 700M (7lbs) to the 3000AES(28lbs+) with prices from $1899(700M) to $2899(3000AES). All engines shipped after Superman will be IR Handheld Display ready.

For more information, you can contact us at [email protected] or visit our website at www.greatnorthernmodels.com or the SimJet website at www.simjet.com.

Good luck with your choices and welcome to the Jet Fraternity.

Hi,
What I meant to say was the cost of jet kits in general is only part of the cost of a jet, the required accessories add a lot to the total cost. I wasn't specifically referring to the Super Reaper, since it doesn't have retracts, etc.

Ed.

If engines shipped after Superman will have the IR hand unit. Does this mean it is now available? If so how can I get one and how much are they?

Default Re: IR ready

Hi Gary

All engines shipped after Superman will be IR Display READY. Meaning that if you want the the hand held display, the wiring is already in place for it, and all that will be required is a software upgrade that will come with the handheld when you purchase it. The Handhelds are an option and do not come with the engines. Also, one handheld can be used with more than one engine so that if you have two engines, you only need one handheld.

The Handhelds themselves will be be priced in the US$250 range. They are available through us. Production release is expected by the end of the year. We will have one or two on display at Superman for all to see.
