Default JR "y" with AMP - good or bad?

I found a way to stop the jitters in my Kingcat elevator servos- (2)5' extensions off the "y'' to (2) 8611 servos

I installed the JR amplified "y" and it seems to work-

has anyone had one fail/burn up?

Any reason not to use this?

The matchbox was a possibility but there's been some doubt put out there as to reliability.

I'm fairly sure that I read a post by one of th eteam-JR guys a while ago, stating that the amplified Y's should only be used with the OLDER JR systems. I'll try to find that post, but in the meantime maybe one of them will pitch in here...

Sorry - looks like I got it kinda bass-ackwards...

Per http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=1266143, Doug stated "With a Z-PCM receiver you MUST use amplified Y-harnesses. Standard non-amp'd Y's won't work.", so he was saying that only the amplified harnesses work with Z-PCM, not that amplified harnesses only work with Z-PCM.

Appologies for originally providing the incorrect info.

The 945 is a dual conversion, 1024 bit "S" PCM RX....the "Z" receivers were 512 bit. So not sure if Doug's comments apply (sorry Gordon!).

But I assume the amplified 'Y" should be OK for Jake's application....

The Z-PCM receivers required the use of amplified Y-harnesses. The newer S-PCM receivers do not. They will however work just fine with them.

Doug,

So the fact that the AMP. "y" stops the glitching is ok?- should I be content OR should I be looking for the cause?-All leads have been replaced and the servoshave not been updated (8611) . There is a total of 10' of extensions coming off the "Y" (all jr gold HD)

You should be fine with the amplified Y. You might also try replacing each segment of your extensions one at a time to see if you might have a bad connector or something that's reducing the signal strength.

Jake, I had the same jitters in my KC on elevators and ailerons and after much fiddling cured it with amplified Y's as you have. Same set up, all brand new HD JR connectors. I would of liked to know the cause as well, but have no issues after about 40 flights so far.

Thanks to all who replied,

Chris, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one scratching my head over this problem.Strange that my ailerons have been rock solid(so far)

Thanks again guys,

Jake

Doug-Any reason why I can't use "one leg " of an amplified Y on each rudder extension (using two y's total) to solve my rudder dance problem on mY KC ? I have it set up with the match box and don't really want to change that. From what I'm reading here, I am betting that would solve my problem as well-Thanks-Mike Oberst
