RE: what was your first jet
Ducted Fan or Turbine?
Ducted fan - god-awful Leicester Models (UK) F16 conversion. Looked vaguely like an F16 - crashed on first flight. I was gutted and hooked at the same time! Picco 45/Thorjet fan unit - there was so much vibration the carb kept falling out so we had to glue it in.
First turbine - Kangaroo with Simjet 1700 - flew well until it met it's demise on a dead stick landing - rolling between two rocks, the fuselage acted like a funnel for the rest of the model. Everything was destroyed apart from the engine!
So I bought another....
And then something else.....
etc. etc. etc.

First DF was a Trim Spectre with OS .91/ Ramtec
First Turbine was F-9F Panther...
2nd. 3rd. and my 4th. ever turbine flight was going sooo well....[8D]
Later that day....
Then I bought a Fiberclassics (now C-ARF) Kangaroo. Had over 250 flights with it the first year.
Sold it a year ago to a friend. Still going strong!

Mine was a byron F-86 ducted fan. my first flight the tuned pipe came off and went into the fan and out the cheater hole[:@]. The engine was still running but the fan blade had disengaged, the RPM's increased and without knowing I had a deadstick. Very memorable. [sm=lol.gif]

RE: what was your first jet
My first ducted fan was a Byron f-16, with a rossi which I could hardly ever get to run. It was almost a relief when my van was broken into and the jet was stolen at the motel I was staying at for the Denver jet rally, LOL.
First turbine plane was a Jet Model Products StarfireIIC with AMT Mercury, Sadly I killed it on its maiden voyage by inadvertently switching the turbine off when I was trying to go to low rate on ailerons. 8-(

First DF was a Byron Mig 15
First turbine model I owned was a CAI Raptor with an AMT 280 ; when I realized that the "it's a perfect trainer model" claims I'd gotten from Scotty Bolduc were hot air, I put it aside for a while and bought a Bobcat & RAM 500 as the first turbine that I actually flew.

My first DF was a BVM F-16/Viofan/BVM .91. I had expected for it to be a not so good first time jet, but It really wasn't. Pretty flyable.
My first turbine was/is a BVM Mav-pro SJ1200. It is/was underpowered and kinda of a pig. I only got to fly it for 2-3 minutes total unitl it flamed out and my coach put her in. Don't know if I will fix her.
I'm planning on buying another DF to get my waiver, that way me and only me will get to fly my jet.[]

RE: what was your first jet
I guess my first ducted fan was a little semi scale F-16 that I built years ago from magazine plans as a kid with a RK-049 in it. Then various EDF's through the years........................
and finally a gas ducted fan BVM Maverick and then a RAM 1000 Euro Firebird..........................man how time flies.[]

RE: what was your first jet
Byron A-4 with a .77. I originally bought it used from a guy and it was a heavy pig it would barely get off the ground. (hard lesson learned) Was retired after the second flight. Had a Parkinson Barracuda that was an excellent plane too.
First turbine was a Roo with PST 600 which was removed after the second flight and a TJT 3000 put on instead.
