Bandit ARF
I can't decide what engine to use for the Bandit ARF. I would like to use a P-60 and then my other option would be a Jet Central Falcon. I saw Dustin fly the his Bandit with his P-60 and it outran the Ali's Olympus Ultra Bandit. My dad and I would like info as to what gives the best possible performance. Flying time, and speed. We are at 2400 feet elevation.
Thanks
Andrew

RE: Bandit ARF
i have a p 70 in mine and the verticall is great so is the high end speeed, my friend has one with a ram 500 and he can tell of the weight difference[:'(], another guy had a falcon in his and it is very heavy, as of flying time , with some slow flight we have landed with a +5 on our 7 minute timer with the p-70 thats 12 minute flight, we dont even use an overflow tank on taxi , we start the timer right before takeoff

RE: Bandit ARF
My Bandit ARF weighed in at close to 18.25 lbs dry with a Wren SS and a smoke system. I used Lipos and kept the gas tank outside....It flew great!!! My next one will have a bigger engine (read 1-2 lbs heavier[X(]) just for fun.

Guys
Don't rule out the super low cost P80...my ARF Bandit feels perfect with the P80 for power.
I have a 500cc hopper and run a 10 minute timer from taxi out

RE: Bandit ARF
Thanks all for posting,
Yah, Dave I saw a bunch of picutures of your Bandit ARF and I have read about it on BVM's site and RCJI. We have that same color scheme. We have decided to use the spare P-80 that was lying around. This combo should be a lot of fun. All of the other previous Bandits fly awesome.

No exception here...everyone who flys mine likes it.
My colour scheme is too popular...I'll have to build the Orange/white/Blue kit I have sitting here!!
P80 is a great combo, we have three flying like that now and all have performed perfectly
Best Regards
Dave

RE: Bandit ARF
We just flew ours for the first time yesterday and all I can say is wow! Not on click of trim needed the whole flight. It really flew awesome. P-80 provides just the right amount of power for verticals and great all out speed. I was also impressed with how it slowed down for landing. There was a strong crosswind and it didn't even effect it. I am a happy camper.

Andrew,
I am ready to test fly my bandit arf as well. How much does your bird weigh dry? Mine came out at around 19.5lbs dry. Where did you balance your CG and where have you placed your batteries? Mine are placed right in front of the intakes and the balance is exactly 8.5inch behind the LE. It would be great to hear of your test flight experience some more.

Andrew, I have flown mine with both a P-60 and a P-70 and the plane performs, and in my opinion is much faster and lands even better with a P-60 engine. You save 3/4 of a pound with the P-60 installation which seems to make a big difference with the Bandit ARF...Gary

RE: Bandit ARF
Sorry for late response. Our cg is an 1/8 of an inch behind the cg hole. I haven't weighed it yet so I will let you know. Batteries; ECU is opposite side of the fuz as the uat. Reciver battery is on the oppostite side of the reciver. We put three more flights on Monday and I was really impressed with the speed , agilty and easy landing as I said in my first post. This bird will do anything you want it to. The slow four point rolls are precise! It really does fly on rails and tracks where you want it to. Takeoff: I hold full up elevator until I have reached full power and then i release up elevator to half way deflected (3/4inch) and she lifts off in 200'. Landing: Put the gear down half flaps, fly past myselft at around 1/4 throttle, as it goes by me I then use 60% throttle on the downleg. Final turn with 30% power and then line up with the runway and I chop it all the way in. I have repeatedly gone full throttle straight up and done a split S and dove full throttle and it seemed like it was going so fast I really don't think a P-60 powered Bandit could catch it! I watched Dustin's at FJ 07 and it seems as though ours is faster. That is just me though. I think it landed as slow as Dustin's too.
Here our some pics of our Bandit ARF.

RE: Bandit ARF
We are using the main 1.2 liter tanks. A liter header tank and a 4 ounce UAT. (4 tanks) You could fit smoke oil in, opposite the UAT. Put the ECU battery in the front of the nose.
