Sam, i have seen that one before!! Good stuff, i actually started building a mini version of mine in depron ,that had a 50 inch ws....never finished it[:@]
Thomas, will do! I will say that the hinging isnt really the hard part, it is tha actuation of it!! Will take pictures sometime during this trip...
Here's one from Airliners.net to show ya whats up......There is a hydraulic motor in the center under the flightdeck that spins a chain and gear assembly that grab the track connected to the visor[X(]

Nick,
Can't you get any drawings of this section from maintenance manuals, that will show exactly whats involved hinging and actuation process for the visor. Like you say
So if you can find drawings we can then work from there and come up with a system for functioning visor, i'm sure between 3 of us we can make it happen for ya bud
As far as baby C5 goes, i think you should do it and use it for CG calculations and as proof of concept as far as models are concerned. I made small 1/67th scale chuck glider Concorde for this very purpose and it flies max of 100ft!! by hand launching it. Bob is doing same for his big B1 Bomber, it's worth it bro.....
Positing pics of inflight baby Concorde glider, after flights on top of CG machine and then CG machines itself.

Sam, the chuck glider is a great idea, was planning on using it as one of my cg-calculations when prepping it for flight (whenever that may be)[:@] A friend in AZ that made a scratchbuilt a-7 used that idea i believe too! I was also going to use our actual weight/balance books for the real airplane, just scaled down of course, because the wing and airfoils are all scale to the actual jet, so they will be able to provide some type of insight and guidance[X(]. I cant wait to get home and start messing with these wings now, pretty exciting!!

Got my plans drawn up for the v-stab and all my ribs drawn (literally drawn on graph paper!!) They are all cut, just need to cut slots for the CF laminated spruce stringers and the holes for the 1/2 inch carbon rods that will be clamped in at the fuse. Heres some pics from today

RE: 120
update: Have the whole left side just about ready for sheeting! I think it looks good and strong, still need to find another of the CF round spars that i have. They are 1/2 inch and have a thin wall design so they are liiiigghhht but strong........will look around. Also am going to beef up the main spar carrying ribs with 1/16th ply for a lil more strength...The pictures dont show it but i have already installed the hinge boxes. Also got my dual Rudder servo mounting pads installed. They are situated so that the servo center is directly centered and it will be a pull-pull setup. All linkages will be internal for a nice clean exterior. Anyways, heres some pix

Were you able to get a glimpse of the new Boeing hangar from the pattern? They plan on building the 787 there once it gets in major production mode.
A young guy visited me the other day who was an enlisted mech here, worked with me on a project before he went to OTS. I think he is now C-5 at Travis. I wish I could remember his name.
We talked C-5s for a while. He was astounded that I worked on the first assigned series of C-5s here in the 70s. I'm glad I escaped the move to Dover when Mendal Rivers died.

Hi Frank, nice shoots of the C-5.I like the paint scheme due to the fact i'm retired from the USAF. I was a Aircraft Mainteance Technican/ Dedicated Crew Chief and was stationed there at Travis when we got the first C-5B
models.I actually flew with 87-0038 during Desert Storm back in 91. Back then she was called the Galaxy Solano and she was in camo paint.
I have been in email contact with Grad and he sent me some of his drawings of the build. I'm in the process of converting them over to Standard measure so i can start building a C-5 also.
I'm going with the same motors but i would like more details on the set -up. I sent a email to Jepe concerning the availablity of the jet90-6s and if they could ship to the USA
I plan to start my construction in January so i got lots to do.
