RE: Elan Has Arrived!
I just realized Dreamworks carries the 1/2 trunion size oleo's called Pro-links, now I only have to wait for the Elan version to come out. Looks like great things are coming out for us here in the US market...

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Had the chance to get the Elan maidened today before the storms blew in. What a wonderful flying plane. It goes exactly where you put it. Servo throws per manual are right on. She has unlimited vertical with the Simjet 2300. Takeoff roll on hard surface was less than 50 feet.

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Brian, what servos are you using? I am trying to get everything together so that when mine gets here I can go to town on it. Oh I am installing a new Simjet 3000, looks like I will need to use lots of throttle management if your 2300 is performing that well. hehehehe... Well congratulations on your maiden flight.

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Dave,
I have 8611's on the elevators, and ST-126MG's on all other flight controls. The retracts and brakes are HS-85MG's and steering is a HS-645MG. As far as throttle managment goes I flew 1/2-3/4 throttle for 6 minutes, landed and had 1/2 a tank so I flew another 5 minutes and landed again. I did not get a chance to refuel and fly again due to the storms that moved through. The Simjet 3000 will give you some serious performance. You will not be disappointed. It is exactly what I was looking for, extreme wide flight envelop.[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Synthetic, My simjet 3000 I have put out a bit over 30lbs the day I tested on my thrust stand. This little joule should give great performance with the Elan. I love the extremely fast throttle responce it has.
I wonder if the booms and tail are too close to install TAMS vectored thrust nozzle.

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Just a quick word regarding the grey servo mounts in the Navy version of the Elan. The factory has responded to some "gentle prodding" from me.
Patricia (USA) and Al's Hobbies (UK) now have complete replacement sets of the eight servo mounts with a good solid grey paint finish.
If you would contact whoever supplied your Elan, we will be glad to send you a set (free of charge, of course).

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Alan,
Do you think the factory would do something about getting some more wood in the corners of the rudder & flap servo pockets, with a "gentle prodding" from you?
Paint coming off is purely cosmetic, but this issue can cost one an airplane. Notice the picture on the left as the way a pocket should be designed, and the Elan rudder servo pocket in the picture on the right.

Countryboy,
It's already been brought to their attention and will be modified from now on.
I do listen to feedback, that's a promise.

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Finally got the Sullivan tank installed. I added 2pcs 5/16" (8mm) dowels for the tank straps to wrap around. The batteries are installed underneath the tank so removal of it was necessary when the packs needed to be accessed. ACE hardware carries the strap kit. I mounted the UAT into a 1/4" (6mm) box epoxied to the fuse. I also added 2pcs 1/4" (6mm) lite ply to keep the packs "centered".
This pretty much completes the build.

Where did you get the Sullivan fuel tank? How much can it hold? and How much did you paid for it?
Thank you
