Not to revive a 22 year old post.. but did you ever find out speed and the flight envelope? My father recently gave me one of these kits and I plan to drop a turbine in it in the future. I was in contact with the designer Chris last year

That was my first turbine model with 8 1/2 lb. thrust Golden West Models FD/367, heavy wing loading but great flying bird. It was without a bypass and only a 150 mph airplane, but loads of fun. One heads up, move the flying stab hinge point forward to about 15-18% to avoid stab float.

I’d be looking at a bypassed Kingtech K45 or something of that nature. Little lighter and more thrust . Did you set yours up with ailerons or flaps and elevons?
Thanks for the advice on the flying stabs Jim! But to be clear, what do you mean by moving the hinge 15-18% ?

I just used flaperons, ailerons that lowered about 10degrees to act as flaps. The flying stab hinge line is too far aft as originally designed and had a tendency to wander at high speed, with analog servos. I don't have the dimensions I used but move it about halfway between shown on the plans and the leading edge, then with today's modern digital servos all concerns will go away.
Enjoy that hotrod, keep it light, shoot for under 11 lbs. as it has a small wing.
