Weatronix RX mounting question
Hi,
I was wondering how you guys are all mounting your weatronic RX's? In the manual it states the best solution is to mount it on sponge rubber but I am sure I have seen examples where it is simply mounted on the radio plate hard i.e just using screws into the wood.
Thanks for any advice.
Geoff.

RE: Weatronix RX mounting question
Hi Geoff
On a jet I use servo grommets and long servo screws. On my Prop/ Petrol planes I take more precaution by isolating the plate to which they are mounted to on rubber mounts.
Regards Al

RE: Weatronix RX mounting question
Hi Geoff,
I've mounted mine by setting it off the plywood radio plate on 5-6mm silicone fuel tube 'spacers'.
Seems to work fine.
Regards
Roger

Hi Geoff, I screwed mine to plywood webbs glued between the inlet ducts. This makes it handy for routing the aerials, one goes down into the nose in a plastic snake and the other down the left hand wing , again in a plastic snake. Havn't yet had a failsafe frame registered.

Cheers Miick,
I was also expecting you to reply. You are so predictable
And Merry Xmas to you as well
Geoff.
P.S. Christmas and New year is going to be spent building a new Flash

I'm back on the Hawk at the moment Geoff, so I'll probably be picking your brain soon. Take no notice of Ian he's probably drunk!

RE: Weatronix RX mounting question
I went to B&Q and bought a small (about 2 inch by 4 inch) sheet of sticky back felt. This is about 3mm thick and is stiff but may (or may not) give a little bit of damping. I cut this into two strips and stuck this to the radio tray then mounted the Wea.
Whatever you do I think it needs a stand off of some sort to allow cooling to the back of the unit.
