RCISFUN;
Factory formers and tray that almost fell out... Do you think factory did not clean off mold release or just bad glue. Should I re-apply
EPOXY over factory glue?

Well with the price of gas what it is today I have decided that I need to take advantage of a small airport that is about 4 miles from my house, my normal jet airport is 50 miles one way. The problem with the close airport is the runway is very rough, to that end I have decided to purchase the BEST struts available so I have ordered a set of Jet-1A struts from Sandor and I would like to thank Sandor for his suggestions.
The struts will be paid for if I eliminate 12 trips to my normal field

You mentioned 3 degrees down thrust on the engine. Do think that is still recommended ?

Randy,
I have not been able to do further testing, in particular checking the CG and/or incidence of the turbine.
I will keep you posted when I will resume further testing.
Nicolas.

Nicolas, anything new to report?
Nicolas, anything new to report?
yes he bought a almost brand new Cutting table to make wings
and the software that comes with it.
it was sitting in my shop for years ,and i cut exactly one wing with it as a demo.
after that i went ARF instead .
i think he is making something else soon

Thanks Sandor for the update, I haven't had much time lately and I won't for the next few weeks
I do plan on getting this thing flying by the end of April
I made a 1/4" (6mm) plywood servo mount for the rudder servos which seems to work well.

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
Wow, this is impressive ! I think I have my own fanclub now !
I have closed the balsa wings again last night aftter the mods were completed, and the wood glue is now drying on the central heating (the longer, the lighter !).
Glassing is for tomorrow.
Things are going slow now, the weather is bad anyway... []

Sandor,
I just received word that my struts arrived at my plant....THANK YOU

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
Negative dihedral on the Formost ?!?
---------------------------------------------
Gents, is there anyone who can check the dihedral on their plane ?
I discovered yesterday that my Fomost has serious negative "V" on the right wing. I swapped my two sets of wings and both right wings were identical. It is less pronounced on the left wing, but still there.
When studying in detail the construction/designing, I think the mistake occurred at the designing stage : the wing tubes are designed for simplicity in the vertical MIDDLE of each of the three mid wing ribs ; and because the wing is tapered and the airfoil of a type like NACA 2412 (semi-symmetrical) with less % thickness at the wing tip, the result is that the bottom side of the wing is almost flat and the "V" is at the top side.
Must say, I have never seen anything like this before on a model. My first flights were most likely with such dihedral as well, and no bad tendency noted,.... but still... ??? [&:]
Can someone check his ?
Put a single alu tube (from the kit) in both wings and place it on a table and look where the "V" is ?
Seriously disappointing how little care and insight was used by the factory when the wing (... and the rest...) was designed.
Anyone can create better in less than half an hour from scratch with a software tool like WingDesigner...
Nicolas.

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
More and more I am convinced that, if Fly-Models wants to make a success with such plane, they must do their complete homework much much better, from proper designing to careful manufacturing, and better start all over again and only keep the tailbooms + fuselage as a base like they are now (=the fiberglass parts).

Jeezzzz, my previous eagerness of completing this model, even with its existing drawbacks has now dripped away to below mean sea level...must see if I can reject my order with the dealer. What more we will find in this chinese dragon?
Greets from HKG....

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
Nicolas, there is something strange here.
I placed a straight edge on the bottom of my wing and I inserted the alum tube into the wing and measured from the bottom edge of the wing to the edge of the tube.
The Right wing had a distance of 7/8" (22mm) and the Left wing had a measurement of 3/4" (19 mm).
The measurements were taken at the same point on both wings.
You can see from the photos that the taper (distance from tube to the bottom surface of wing) is increasing from the wing tip to the root of the wing which indicates a positive dihedral.
