Hi all

I just wanted to share with you that yesterday I picked up my new Rabbit turbine from the Jet Central factrory. I had the opportunity to visit and walk around those facilities and I am amazed. Juan Ramon is a great person and gave me a great explanation of the turbine components and also I was in some turbine quality tests. Awsome.

SO, This turbine will be installed in my Formost 150, I am in the process of making the mods that Rick sent me days ago.

BTW, Is it possible to install an aluminum tube instead of the CF tube?, this is because it is very hard for me to find CF rods here.

A friend of mine suggested me to insert a wood rod into the aluminum tube glued with epoxy. what do you think?

Best

JC

Hi JC,

I have the very same tube spar you are talking about. It is a 16 mm aluminum tube spar with a wooden dowel inserted. I am flying my Formost with a Jet Cat P-80. Right now I have 51 flights on it. I didn't do the landing gear mods to the wings. I had a fuel pump go out and I had to land away fron the field. I broke the mount out and had to do the mod then. I think you will enjoy the Formost. I cut my ailerons in half to make the inford section flaps. Lands real slow.
Good luck with your Formost.....

Larry

Thanks a lot for your answer, I was really worry about the aluminum tube spar, now I know according to your experience that I will be safe just inserting the wood dowel into the tube. And I will proceed with the flaps mod too.

BTW, do you have some kind of mix for your flaps and elevator?

Best and thanks again.

No mix in the elevator/flap. I did add speed brakes to the top of the flaps. They are about 3" long and 1.5" wide from the flap leading edge. When you lower the flaps, the speed brake pops up. I didn't drop them into the wing in a recess pocket. They are made from 1/16th plywood and glued on with medium CA. I removed some of the flim covering from the flaps, coated the wood with thin CA to reinforce the wood. They slow the plane down to a point where I have to add a little power. They are covered with Monokote. Be sure to check the right wing for twist. I had to add 3/16" right trim to make it fly level. I added 3/32" down on left wing and 3/32" up on right wing.....

Hye i3dm,

BEst way to now all of this bird is to read through all the pages

But if you take a look at my Formost page on my website you will have a idea what there must be done to make this plane a real safe turbine jet.
Only mods that are not done so far, is the spar in the vertical fins and a carbon aft wingspar.

Here the formost page with lot of pictures on my website:

Like it has been said by the other knowledgeable contributors to this post, I would highly suggest you take the time to read the pages

If you send me your e-mail address I can send you my conversion document complete with full size drawings of the wood parts that need to be cut from plywood, or you can purchase the conversion wood kit from Sandor. (This option might be your best choice based on the amount of time required to cut out the parts)

Based on you comment that you don't have time to read all of the pages, are you sure you want to take the time to convert this bird?

This conversion has been done by guys who still enjoy spending Lots of time building and believe me you will spend a fair amount of time doing this project, this is definitely not an ARTF project.

Best Regards

Last monday the wheater overhere in the Netherlands was too bad to go fly and maiden this bird.
Lots of rain and over 6 bft of windd is a little too much for me during a maiden.

But a new data is set and I hope to maiden my first jet next week

Hi guys

Unfortunately last Wednesday a friend of mine crashed his Formost 160 due to a wing failure. I tried to aware him about reinforcing the wings according to the recommendations in this threat but I got no answer from him. He bought his plane during the Florida Jets event but the seller never aware him to make the basic reinforcements to this jet such as the wing tube, ribs, etc, I asked him if he wanted the plans that RCISFUN is sharing to us but no answer from him too. (seems that he was comfortable with the first flights).

He had about 3 or 4 successful flights but in the last one the wings failed. Poor guy he was very excited with his first turbine jet. Anyway he is planning to get an additional one.

Everything was destroyed: Electronics, servos, plane (of course). But the rabbit turbine is going to be sent to Jet Central facilities for a general overhaul.

Oh no.........
I glad no one was hurt.

This is a very unfortunate and totally preventable incident, it's too bad you friend didn't heed your warnings.[X(]

I guess the warnings on Nitro Models web site didn't help either if your friend didn't order from their web site.

Now his beautiful Rabbit has been turned into Hausenfeffer [>:][>:][&o][&o]

Eric will take care of the Rabbit and it will be brand new when the Jet Central Factory team gets done with it.

This is truly a shame
