Well my Formost has hit the skies. First test flight a couple of weeks ago and still going strong. Powered by a P-80 which provides pretty of go.

Thank Rich for sending through the conversion files.

Cheers
Richard

Richie,
Did you paint that scheme?
It looks great...I know I want to strip the covering and glass the wings and stab on mine but the problem is now its time to fly and I don't want to take it out of commission

Default RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?

Well I was able to put on a few more flights this past weekend

On Friday afternoon I had a freak accident with my Formost I was turning around after landing and got a little too close
to the edge of the runway and my one of my main wheels became stuck, well the grass on the edge of
the runway was cut about a week ago and was very dry, the grass was blown onto the black top and was clumped up on the edge.

I starred walking towards the jet and noticed smoke, I was about 200 yards away, I ran up to the jet
to find a pile of grass on fire and it burned my tail...
I spent Friday night and Saturday working on it so I could fly on Sunday.

I know I said I wanted to glass and paint my Formost; however this wasn't the way i was planning on doing it.

Now it is a bit ugly with primer, but it still fly's good.

I have been playing around trying to get a "New Look" on my Formost

I want to thank "Flyaway" for coming over and helping last night and volunteering to cover my other wing today while I'm at work

Here is the work in progress...can you guess the paint scheme I am going for?

I had a set of Cermark MB 339 tip tanks laying around in the shop so I thought I wold put them to good use.

I made the tip tank adapters in less than 2 hours,

This past week the ABC Television show "Extreme Makeover" was here in my town building a new house for a needy family, so I decided to perform an extreme Makeover on the Formost
The wings are covered in White and Red "Ultracoat / Oracover" iron on film.

I painted the tip tanks with Rust-Oleum "Professional" Safety Red...is is a close but not exact match...good enough for this pig!

I painted the fuselage, booms and horizontal stab with Rust-Oleum "Professional" White.

I have never been a fan of using spray cans, however when I priced the base coat / clear coat paint from the automotive paint supply shop I decided that the Formost wasn't worthy of the associated cost...so spray bomb it is.

I was actually surprised on how well it is coming out

I think everyone has used the term "Out standing Paint Job" or "Stand Out Paint Job"

I think mine is a stand out paint job......

You need to strand out about 10 feet and its looks good

Default RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?

Last week flown again one time with the jet.

Just one time because I misjugded the landing and my old P80 took to long to spool up and so I came 1 mtr short.

But the nice thing about this is that it is captured with a onboard cam the FCO 2.
And so here the video:
[link=http://www.***************/video/2009/jet6.wmv]Formost jet with FCO2 with crash landing[/link]

The damaged was minimum only a bend and broken loose nose gear but that is fixed again.

I`m also converting this plane to 2,4GHz with the Jeti Duplex 2,4 system with a R14 reciever in the aircraft.

Coming weekend Jets Over Pampa where I`m planning to go to on saturday

Thanks Mike, maybe your team can come up with a new canopy

This would be a good addition to the Global Jet Club !

I'm sure you could dig up some tip tanks somewhere
