Hi David, understand your problem with the nose gear. We would love to make a model that can accommodate all aftermarket accessories but its just not realistic with varieties out there. US/Japan/Europe..all have different designs and specs. Our retracts are machined from solid aluminum and are very strong...over killed for the Reaction even at 30lbs+ takeoff weight. I always keep fuel pump/header tank close to the engine to minimize unnecessarily pressure in the fuel line.

With fuel pump in the nose..longer fuel line is needed...pump will have to work harder. I also like to see the header tank clearly before each flight...just my thought here

I am more concerned about "flaps were not glued to the outer skin"? We use live hinge which means that the flaps and other flight control surfaces are hinged with specially waved fiberglass cloth/resin. Can you tell me more? When the flaps is in the down position, its normal that you will see large gap on the upper surface due to extension. This gap is usually filled/covered in scaled/full sized airplane.

Avicom...[&o] sorry about the small incident, hope that you will be up and flying again soon...

As of now, sales is for the ARF Kit

Hi,
enclose shots of the new rails with the large 40lb Pro Lynx style retract for a more robust nose wheel installation ( in my opinion). Also the fuel pump is now up there as well adding weight in the right place.
I can agree that the perfect place for the trap is in easy reach but if installed carefully in the first place I have never had a problem. I seem to install all my planes without nose weight where possible by shovelling all up front. I would suggest (and according to Wren turbines here in UK) that having the pump far away does not increase the pump workload. Neither does changing the dia of the feed pipe from 4mm to 3 mm for the last bit change the pressure in the pipe enough to worry about. I am not a physicist and I am sure there will be some that have a different view but it has always worked Ok for me.
Also here is a shot of the flap skin to hinge upright which was floating and free from Hysol or similar. The other one was part glued. You can see the new Hysol smeared all along the joint. The new rails would easily accomodate many more types of gear I suspect if one wanted to go in that direction.
I am still interested in the discount period in your last mail as I received my Reaction THIS week ( arrived UK Monday) and had to pay a £150 to dollar exchange rate supplement from the original published price. I agreed to this with your UK agent as I sympathised with his exchange rate dilema. However it is a bit gaulling for both of us to suffer this then see you drop the price by $150 the following week.

Surely this must have been known about when my plane was shipped to UK ?

I am pleased with this plane you might be surprised to hear but I have always thought that constructive criticism was a good thing.

Regards

David

Kraivuth,

So the shipment arrives in Uk on the 10th and is dispatched to me on the 11th and receive on the 12th and pay £150 dollar premium to the UK agent ( thats $217.50 @ 1.45 at that time).

You dispatched a consignment to UK knowing that three days after arrival you will post a $150 (£103) world wide discount.

This is how I feel about this:

I have a kit which had no glue on one flap and little on the other. I had to replace the front gear rails as the only gear that fits is yours. I have a rear section with two chips out and a gel coat which is so thin its crazing leading me to put carbon tows on the inside to strengthen it without loading it up with weight.

I decided to support your UK agent re the $217 dollar premium but then you drop the price $150 which makes me having paid $367 more for this privilege than 4 days ago.

$367 is 1/3rd more than the advertised price three weeks ago so why do you think I feel.............. PST OFF !

In these troubled times its lucky any of us are buying any of this stuff let alone paying through the nose for it.

My best regards

David

Honestly, Bruce at BTE wants to give promotion to USA market during Christmas and New Year. However, we feel that the promotion should go world-wide with no intention to take advantage of anyone. Our book shows no shipment within 1 week so the decision was made in the morning and we announced it in the evening. There was no long term plan for this and there was no intention to ripoff anyone

BTW, I have tested various retracts (used for jets) from Robart/BVM/Spring AIr/HeliJet (Diamond) and they all seem to fit without major modifications.

Each country has their own customs/tax law that place levies on top of imported goods, especially the UK, so we have no control over the final selling price in each country. David, I hear you so what can we do to make you happy? Please PM me [8D]

Kraivuth S.

seflyer

No bad tenancies at from the Reaction, in fact you will be amazed at how slow you can fly it.

I have not done done the Airbrake mod, just made sure that I can get as much Flap movement as possible, which is nearly 90 degrees.

Just enjoy it.

Kraivuth,
thank you for your reply and the invitation to PM you.

I am going to talk to your UK agent Ali tomorrow and discuss the matter with him.

I would like to add that I appreciate that you have no control over the value of the dollar rate and I accepted that fact when I paid it on delivery.
It was the two things being so close together that makes me unhappy.

Thank you

David

made two non eventful flights today, flies great and yes it flys very slow, it will land almost as slow as my shock jet. speed was not as fast as I thought but I never let it build up before pulling vertical, it will go up forever with the p-120. wheels seem to have a lot of drag even when not applied but work well when on.

Congrats Kevin.
My wheels were a little sticky so I took them apart and lubed them up.. I also noticed the 3 'push button' brake shoes/cylinders on each main were sticky, so I thin lubed them as well... It's not a problem and it should be a regular maintence event anyway.

Any pics of the flight Kevin?

will upload some pics in a bit. first landing was smooth but shaky, my nerves were taxed, second was like butter, got a nice main gear wheelie for about thirty feet. hope to fly some more tomorrow. made a6 minute flight and just used the 1 liter aux tank up and starting on the 2.5 liter main. minimal throttle was used to feel it out. made one high speed pass and climb, it was great.

what sort of flight times are you guys getting with the larger turbines? I got six minutes of mixed throttle on the second flight and just used up the aux tank, main was still about completely full. Kevin

I get an easy 8 minutes with the 1600R of fairly agressive flying and have about two to three go around left. This is using their large single tank...

When I was using the 2 tank system and a P-120 Se I was getting anywhere from 12 -15 mins.

If I stay with the mixed throttle settings the 12-15 looks very possible, it will fly with so little power that fuel burn is not an issue. my timer is set at 6 min, so I will bump it up to 8 and see where that puts me. just don't want to run out of fuel.
