One consideration may be that JetCat engines require(?) twice as much oil as Wrens or Jet Central engines. But I have heard of engines coking up on some turbine oils. So, ...??

If you are using a high grade turbine oil that does not coke up as much as others, why not spec a higher oil content to better lubricate things that are spinning really fast??

Keep in mind Jetcat has a reputation to uphold, just like BV or any of the other manufacturers that are trying to put out the "best" product out there. Oil, like a lot of other things in this hobby has different properties the more you spend. (at least in some cases, obviously there are always exceptions to the rules).

It almost always pays out to use what is spec'd out by the manufacturer and distribution centers. If it is a cost issue, yous guys are in the wrong hobby [sm=greedy.gif]

If it is a health issue, well, I bought a sanding bar the other day that is known to cause cancer in the state of California )

ANY QUESTIONS?
Right on - for me the issue is avoiding organophosphates entirely (which can be a serious issue for those who have challenged immune response systems [e.g., diabetes, Lupus, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease]) I don't give a $h!t about the cost of a combustion chamber or a bearing for that matter. All my turbines are happy on DTE Lite.

That's good enough for me !

Looks like it will be Mcmaster.com, and DTE from now on for me.

And running only a small turbine myself, the gallon size container is definitely more convenient.

Can anybody provide a list of the "clean and green" oils that are acceptable for turbine use and available in the USA? This could be any 2 stroke, 4stroke, and turbine oils that are less of a health hazard.
Thanks.

I started [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6420192/anchors_6420192/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#6420192]this thread[/link] over a year ago. What do you mean by "clean and green"? We can't use old french fries oil from Mickey D's or Burger King if that's what you mean.

I meant clean bill of health for turbine users and green as environmentally friendly. I guess it means non toxic to us and the environment.

A lack of organophosphates is the magic litmus test - DTE Lite doesn't have any; the official turbine oils do. There may be other oils that don't have OPs. Notwithstanding JetCat being the odd one out at this point in terms of official endorsement, every other flavor of miniature turbine we typically use are completely happy with the stuff. I have a whole wad of organophosphate-related stuff I can email you if you want more background - just tag up w/me via my email button on this post.

ENCO Tool has Mobil DTE Light for $76.42 plus shipping. I use it in my lathe headstock and turbines.
