RE: Where to Buy Powermax Fuel
Hi Hector,
For an onboard system, straight propane can get to very high pressure on a hot day. hot enough to burst the plastic lines. This can be dangerous. An off board system (you do not carry the starting gas on board) does not have this problem.
Did you see if you can get any of the other non Powermax brands I showed above?

Propane has a much higher vapor pressure than Powermax, which is a blend of Propane and Butane.
On hot days, the higher pressure can exceed the capability of the 3 mm tubing we use, causing a rupture.
Otherwise, propane works fine in JetCat engines.
You can order Powermax from www.campingstation.com

OK GUYS,I have done my homework, you can buy and easily find ISOPRO or COLEMAN butane-propane mix anywhere 8 ounce cans.Take a nozzle off of a spray brake cleaner can,It seems to have a longer stem than those in a paint can.It will fit the isopro can perfectly. Then take a straw like the ones you get on wd 40 cans and cut it in half, then slide a 1in long section of small airline tubing onto straw.Put your tubing you use to fill your tank over that and your done, mine works great and my jetcat loves the isopro!!! Strarts evertime! NO MORE HASSLES WITH POWERMAX

Sorry Joe I never have any success uploading pictures on this forum. Just get a can of brake spray cleaner, auto zone or advance auto parts.Take nozzle out of can ,take red straw that comes with it cut in half, slide 1in long small airline tubing over straw end and slide tubing you use to fill on board tank over airline, the nozzle out of brake cleaner can goes right in isopro can and does not leak.Just depress down like you were spraying paint. RE: Where to Buy Powermax Fuel
My guess is that Coleman is no longer making it in the Powermax aluminum cans but they offer the short little steal cans, problem is it won't work with the trigger type of filler I use.
I was able to get the last 11 cans that the REI in our state had (their website did not even show it in stock) and most of them had dates on the can as far back as 2000, the newest was 2008. I have not heard officially if Coleman has stopped selling it that way, the stores I talked to hate to deal with Coleman on products. Tough to get and you have to order a large order each year or your S.O.L.
Thanks for the info Matt!!!!!!!!!

RE: Where to Buy Powermax Fuel
After reading this thread I ran over to my local Gander Mountain where I normally buy Powermax. They had 9 cans left and it was marked down from $6.99 to $2.97 so I bought all of them. Looks like they are going to quit carrying it as well.
