Spooling up to shutdown...

Guys,
I understand that it is recommended by some manufacturers but excuse me for using my own little brain and experience to voice an opinion. I'm also using Mobile DTE Lite oil contrary to manufacturers recommendations so I guess I'm a bit of a rebel !
I think Dustin may have the most plausible explanation . I really don't think thermodynamically it makes a bit of difference to the engine but I could see how shutting off the fuel at a higher RPM may result in a slightly longer initial spooldown time . I guess I don't seem to be too worried about my battery , clutch and starter motor wear by maybe going one or two more cycles !

Hi Marc
No you are not a rebel... You live in the real world and your brain might be in better shape due to the DTE Lite...

Ya know what , you're absolutely right ! To each his own . I see no point , so I'm not going to do it . I wasn't necessarily trying to convert the masses but stimulate some informed discussion about the merit or lack of merit of this techniique.

While it may benefit the turbine and the frame to do a spool up before shut down, I truely believe that there is very little data to prove that spooling is important in today's turbines. Latent heat is not good for the frame, so spooling is more beneficiary to the airframe than the turbine itself.
