Default Rabbit Dry Lake Conditions

Anyone know the shape of the dry lake bed at this time?? Big Rick, have you been out to fly lately? I may be in Victorville this Thursday and will fly if it's looking good.

Thanks

Lakebed is fine, all entrances are open. Winds are forcast to be 15 to 20 mph for the next few days.

Say Rick,
Thanks for the update. Love to fly with you if you were going to do so on Thurs., but 15 to 20 MPH may get dusty and be too much for my allergies. Accuweather was forecasting 6 to 10 I believe. ..so much for their accuracy. I may still be there come Thurs. morning. See you.

John

Forcast & actual conditions on the lakebed can be very different. You always have to go look. But it has been windy for the last two weeks. Think I'll head out now. Today's forcast is for anything between 8 and 20 depending on where you look.

Thud Driver,

I was hoping to make it out this Sat., but unsure of the lake bed condition.
If you happen to get by there, or get a report, can you please post here?

Thanks in advance, Jim

It's a lake, bring a boat or a jet ski. More rain the last couple days and still a good amount of snow on the local mountains. It's not going to be dry any time soon, not even for prop planes along the shore line. Based on other years like this, I'm thinking no sooner than May. Even if the water level goes down any, the wind moves the water around enough to keep it muddy everywhere.

We're using the small lakebed at Hwy 18 & Milpas road. Not suitable for anything much more than Boomers as there are houses at about 1000 feet away.

First picture courtesy of Rabbit Ron @ the Flying Circus and second from John Reid of Model Airplane News. Both pics about 2 weeks old and the water level is probably higher now.
