JMP T-33 build time
Hello Gentlemen,
I would like to know from those who have built a JMP T-33 (turbine), the approximate build time to be ready for paint?
Can this kit be classed as an ARF, or is that some what of a stretch?
And apart from being larger and fully composite, what are the major differences to the one offered by BVM?
Best regards, Frank.

RE: JMP T-33 build time
It is not an ARF but a very good all composit kit.
Order early( 6 weeks).
The kit is made for you on order.
Great flyer, but follow the instructions.

The Jet Model Products is Far from an ARF, It IMO it is the FINEST kit I've built (Built TWO)All the hardware is in the box.Has THE BEST instructions ! BAR None. An OUTSTANDING FLYER Build time I guess would be on how much time you could spend on it . rough guess maybe 40 hours to be ready for final paint .

Thank you Gentlemen for your time.
uncljoe,
40 hours ready for paint sounds very fast, you must be an efficient builder. It will probably depend on the skill/speed of the builder. At least I have a
ball park figure to deal with.
Best regards, Frank.

When I say 40 hours to paint, thats not including hysol dry time. you could start on the tail assembly, do the tail surfaces then go on to the nose to do the landing gear,or work mid fuselage. as the fuselage is three piece. etc.

RE: JMP T-33 build time
I did not build mine, but someday I hope to. Still to this date one of the best flying model jets I have ever flown, and has an incredible presence in the air. JMP are possibly some of the finest kits on the market, with an incredible instruction manual, and the customer service from Tom Cook is second to none. I purchased mine already built and Tom Cook sent me an instructional manual so I can familiarize myself with the plane before flying it, so I am somewhat familiar with the process from reading the book from cover to cover. This is not an "ARF" but the kit is filled with lots of pre-molded composite parts and the engineering that went into this plane is amazing. If you decide to go with this kit, I am sure you will not be dissapointed as the experience of building one of Tom Cooks planes is something worth while and the finish product will be a jewel.
Not sure if you can tell....but I really loved mine. I sold it when my chips were down, and have been kicking myself ever since.
Enjoy,
Dave

RE: JMP T-33 build time
Hi J.David,
Lovely paint job. It sure looks impressive. How did you get the lovely curved lines on this paint scheme? Did you use thin tape and just mask, or use some paint mask professionally made (e.g. Pro-Mark), or did you use a product like Frisket? Whatever you used, the lines sure look sharp, and accurate.

RE: JMP T-33 build time
there is another option.
A man in denmark makes also the T33, and its 190cm spann
i have just finnished mine and have flown about 20 flights.
its finnished with mick reeves metal cote.
here is a video with my T-33.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9D1H2DzhhY
the pricefor thekit, whitch is full fiberglass but far from arf is about 800€. and with custom gear an everything you will end up at about 1600€
the last picture is how its delivered.

RE: JMP T-33 build time
I built this one years ago,
I understand it has changed hands many times, but is still flying. Tom makes a great T-33. The assembly was a bit time consuming, but the fact that his moldings are clean and very well made kept the finish time to a minimum.Good luck with your project.
