Default FlightTech F-20 electric conversion

We have had this plane laying around for years.
Was going to be a turbine conversion, but now we have decided to embrace the electric revolution and are going to give it a shot.

Lots of work to do, but hopefully will be ready for Greater Southwest next month. Thats the plan anyway.

Took a few pics with the cell phone this afternoon.

Will add as we go.

I've never heard of Flight-tech... Is that the guy that also made the Viggen kit? At some point, they were called Cressline?
Good luck! [8D]

I had one of them from flighttech, flew on a os91 dynamax, **** kit to build, 1/2 the parts need re-shaped! Wish I had it back, lost it in the 10'ft tall corn field at Heart of Ohio in 1998.

The flightech f-20 is just a 1/2 scale smaller then the byron's. I used byron's f-20 decals on mine.

Ronnie

pulcini built one of the cressline ones years back with a ramtec. it flew really well. at least until a stray kiddo straddled and sat on the fuse between the wings and the stab. no visible damage but next flight the tail shook off and created one of the most spectacular crashes in my memory bar none. he could help with cg and stuff i am sure.

Well.. no plans but I found the instruction manual if you need the throws. The manual talks about the CG but refers to the plans for location. I have a few more places to look.

throws: ** High **
Up Down
elevator 1 3/8" 1"
rudder 3/4" 3/4"
alierons 1 3/8" 7/8"
Flaps 60degrees

** Low **
Up Down
elevator 5/8" 3/8"
rudder 3/4" 3/4"
alierons 7/8" 5/8"
Flaps 60degrees

Also the battery packs came in last night

Plan on breaking these in with 5 cycles.

Anyone know what rate of discharge to use on a break in?

Ronnie,

I break in the batteries with the fan installed in the airframe. Here's the procedure I use. On the first 5 runs, throttle up to 50 amps, discharging 70% of the capacity. If the batteries are 5000 mAh, discharge 3500 mAh. You'll need to use a watt meter or the Eagle Tree vLogger so you can see the amount of mAh being used in real time. After those 5 runs, do 3 more runs on the ground discharging 80% capacity and alternating between 50 amps and full throttle. Only go full throttle for a couple of seconds and wait 20 to 30 seconds before doing the next full throttle burst. After those final 3 runs, the batteries are ready to fly. When flying, try to keep the amount of discharge to 80% capacity. By the way, your F-20 build looks great.

If I can help in any other way. let me know.

Kirk
