If JetCat can bring out the new P20 at about the same price as the P80 they will be inundated with orders, me for one, all we need now are some nice composite airframes to go with it, perhaps uncomplicated ones, i.e. no retracts or brakes, hand/dolly launch and belly land a bit line DW's Panther I think it was.

I was thinking the same thing about the weight. Light is better at my field. Although 800g on over 20kg.. Oh well, time enough to think about it.

i still have 2 colibri,s on the shelf
i am putting these on a HT A-10 (145mm span) but Ali thinks the airframe is to small and one engine will be ok.
there is also a wicked one for sale in the forum ads...

The Cougar will be used as a test airframe for the Mini JC, it has retracts in this second one and was built with a bigger tail pipe for this turbine 2 1/2 years ago...

I would get an OPUS glider for the P20. Saw them eat up the sky at Jet power with a colibiri... absolutely insane stuff... My friends got two of the colibiri/opus setup... cant wait to see them fly here....

Too high a wing loading ( Making what could be a sweet plane to fly into a bit of a dog ) .
Too much thrust ( The A-10 pitches down already with lots of power so this one would do a sweet outside loop with full power).
Too high speed ( Some planes are suited to fast flying but an A-10.......[:'(] )
Then there is the structure to think about.
Basically my advice still stands.... Dont do it! Plus why tie up both turbines in one airframe. The beauty with these small turbines is that you can put them into a cheap airframe. So have two jets for the price of one!
Just my advice
I was liking the look of the foam mini sport jet on the Horizon stand. Did not get the name but i reckon thats where my first P-20 will be heading.

structure looks fabulous and i think it is just as strong as the Savec l-39 i once owned
i calculated the weight difference to be about 800 grams (calculated with a full fuel tank of 600 ml)
engines weigh in autostart 320 grams each
i just need once lipo of 2s 1p 1200 mah to power both engines.
i will build it and see the total weight it will come up i see it fly,s with about 4kg.
landing speed is a bout 50 kmh without flaps...
i cant afford a mibo...

I think everyone is rightfully excited by the P20 but I feel that with the amazing developments going on in respect of small EDF's at the moment we will by the time the P20 is available have a fan that will out perform it (If we are not their already). We flew my little E flight Hawk on 4 cells at the weekend and the performance was amazing and with a 3000 4 cell I recon we could get about 5.5 mins flight time. Many at the field mentioned a small turbine in her but at £200 verses £1500 while fun it seems rather expensive to me. The lander metal fan is also amazing both in performance and I hate to say it sound as well.
I love the sound and smell of turbines and all that goes with them and I dont much like large EDF's, But at the small end I love EDF's.
This all said if the price comes out at around £1500 I can see the urge getting the better of me. That will be another plane to add to the 88 and make the choice even worse when going to the field

The new JetCat P-20 will have 2,5 kg of thrust at 250.000 RPM, only gas start, I was told.
Martin Lambert also showed me his own new turbine at JetPower, it was really hard to see it was a little bigger than the Kolibri. Output is 2,5 kgr as well, but he is not happy with the reliability yet (he's known to be a perfectionist, after all !).
I have three Kolibris and these little ones have an incredible output, flying the Opus V-Jet at JetPower at full speed together with three other planes was absolute stress and insane. I have now 1,7 kg of thrust and only 2 1/2 minutes of full throttle with the 380 ml tank. More power would mean even shorter flights and more speed ? No thanks, not with the Opus...

As said somewhere before, for a kerostart plug you will need to install a heavy battery.... and we run such size turbines with 2S Lipo packs of 700-1100 MAh only (the Kolibri consumes about 80 MAh per flight, only).

I would have thought the heavy duty battery could be external during start up and the turbine can run off an in airframe battery during flight.
