Default question for EDF experts

hello gents[8D]

..well a friend has left for over a year a full set of fans.
..they just colecting dust and i think its time they fly or crash.my friend agree too

but dam i know nothing about edf's..[&o]

question is ..is it worth the troble?..what thrust should this put out? can it fly a p80 class hawk/l39 (1500mm wingspan made for turbine use?
i think a p80 turbine would waith less than lipo/motor/fan...lipo is heavy!..[:-]

...was thinking just carve foam and build a huge airliner or a huge twin hot wire foam horten..but have better thinks must work on right now..[:@]

i dont mind ordering a plane just to use this fan if it will be fun.
but i dont like ending up ordering a turbine for the plane later and end up with that kind of jet..

also i dont look for speed.just to float around and dont wait a day to takeoff

so here is some info :

fans are 5inch /125mm diameter..i also balanced them:

claim for 5kilo of thrust?!?

motor in the fan is one of this three..dont know wich one..since size is the same with no marks on...they mantion it ha heat promblems after some time of work

Don't waste your money on a P-80 class Airframe for your setup. Your ESC can only handle 6s. To get 11lbs of thrust out of that fan, your gonna need something in 10s range You're simply not gong to get the Watt output and Eflux need for that size airframe with your setup.

Now building an airliner for twin 5" fans that would be sweet!

A Hobby City setup just isn't the way to go.

Looks like you got the Jetjoe of EDF. I would not put that stuff in anything expensive.

I don't know, that's no Schubler fan for sure, but you might get 11 lbs of thrust out of that thing - in the open with no intake or tailpipe to rob thrust. Certainly on 6 cells its not going to put out anything like a 10s or 12s EDF unit.

In general, I've had good luck with stuff from Hobby City. Its not top of the line for sure, but their stuff has been a good value for the money for me. If I had those, I'd look for a light-weight twin project for it - could be fun...

Ah, a Thunder Power 5000 MAh 30C 6S pack weighs 750 grams. That's not that much less than what you have. I have used Zippy packs on some of my smaller EDF's and they seem to run OK. Again, you can do something with that stuff. If you don't want to try, send it to me - I'll even pay the shipping... [8D]
