Default Alan Brown - Tazer Sport Jet

Here are some pictures from Alan's Den. He is building two models in parallel, one for him and one for me. I need to get the formers cut out this week and get the fuselage back to him by the end of the week.

Default RE: Alan Brown - Tazer Sport Jet

The model pictured is the original prototype Tazor powered by a SPS54 and being flown here by Dave stephens at the Redruth show in Cornwall a few years ago. It was developed into the Tazor MK2 which became the Mach 1, Alan has done a very good job on the design and the prototypes have been built to his usual high standards. Alans Tazor 1 was refitted with a Wren 70 which i got a chance to fly at the last Classic jets. The 70 was a massive improvement over the SPS54 and had plenty of reserve power, Martins is to be powered by Merlin 90 and mine is to be fitted with a Supersport and should be a good pairing with these motors. Such a pleasant handling plane and does not have any nasty habits . . . . need to get mine in the air asap!

Same designer but this is a part kit ( Fiberglass fuz and some foam wigs) Of which a handful were made. I now own the rights to the design, plugs and moulds and am having it made as an all composite artf in China as we speak ( The first prototype is in the shop waiting my attention when I get home)
Oh and I changed the name as well
Regards Al

This project is moving along thanks to Alan. I have just received my Jets-Munt Merlin 90 from Rob Rowbotham / Gaspar.

It should be ready for paint in the next week or so, then I need to do the final install.

This is now back on the workbench and is booked in at Pinnacle Aviation in March. I have almost finished the install (Alan Brown did most of it).

Good to see you are back on it Martin, do you think this project will be commercially available at any time?

I purchased this entire project ( For a substantial fee) along with a gentleman's agreement from Alan Brown that it was mine to do with as I please. I have had a prototype made by a well known Chinese artf manufacturer. But it was well below the standards that I would want to put my name to. The project has languished now for some years. However! Coincidentally enough. Just this week… A very big name in the Jet manufacturing industry has contacted me and asked me about this model and how to move forward with bringing it to the market. I am in the processes of having the tooling shipped from one factory to another and hopefully start the ball rolling again. So hopefully if there are any updates regarding ( The Mach 1 as its now known ). They will be coming from me, in the not too distant future!
Regards Al

Hi Al and thanks for the reply, I saw you fly the Mach 1 at Woodspring a few years ago and was very taken with it. I really like the retro lines which for me makes it stand out from the usual sport jet style. I have always imagined that it would not look out of place with a pseudo cold war era livery. Really good to know that the project is coming back to life again, please keep us informed.cheers.
