Elevons????????????

I am starting an Avonds F-15 build. How well do elevons work? Avonds says you do not need flaps or ailerons, just speed brake. Anyone that has flown an F-15 with elevons ,please tell me the pros and cons of this set up. Thanks

I have been flying an Avonds f-15 for +5 years now, I have a Jetcat 120 fitted and have just got elevons and rudders as flying controls, you don't need the speed brake or flaps as it will slow down for landing easily without it, just set it up as per Avonds instructions and you won't go far wrong.

Nick

My view is that although they work effectively the model looks unrealistic rocking and rolling around, a bit like a jet version of an old rudder/elevator model.

Only my opinion.

I flew one for years & it was great. I cannot tell the difference in flying between an F15 with elevons & one with ailerons & elevator, although the Avonds is the best flying F15 available in my opinion. If it is rocking & rolling, then it is not set up right.

The Avonds F15 is the best flying F15 on the market. No ailerons, flaps, speedbrake needed. If you do use rudders( not needed) then I think Philip suggests a gyro to prevent 'fishtailing in windy conditions.All his aeroplanes fly superbly. Just follow his instuctions. Regards Andy.

Hello::)

I think tht the correct name is taileron, like F-14, F-16, F-15 or F-18...

Elevon is for delta wing, like Hotspot or Roo, Mirage...

Best Regards from Spain.;)

Carlos.

I have been flying my PA F15 for 5 yrs..it's a wonderful jet. There is absolutely no was one can tell the difference between ailerons or tailerons. SB is not necessary and I never use mine. Lands at a crawl. I just use the elevon function in my radio (12x) and it works great. I also have had 2 PA F16s with tailerons only. It's an easy simple setup. No one in the world world builds lighter, better flying jets than PA!

Flew two SM F-15´s in both ways, and prefer the elevon version. (or like Carlos said the taileron).. about rocking and swinging it is in my opinion related to the setup, flying style and air conditions rather than the question above.

However anyhow you are going to do it you will love this plane.
