Andy,

If you drill a hole the steering cylinder (about the center of travel) and the master cylinder (also about the center of travel) you can put a fill port in the steering cylinder and a bleed port in the master cylinder. Then you should be able to fill the system from the lowest point (steering cylinder) and force the air out and up the pressure line (s) to the bleed port in the master cylinder for each direction of operation. The trick will be to not create a burr in the cylinders that the piston will hang on. Maybe JB weld the fittings to the outside of the cylinders

Just an idea,

See you at Kentucky,

Bob Neal

Just curious, has anyone figured out the Steering issues on this jet?

The fact that nobody seems to be flying this jet, or talking about it probably answers my question.

Scotty?

Whilst not a CARF A4 thought I would share my experience with the SM A4 hyd nws as mine works a treat.

I couldn't get rid of bubbles so swapped the supplied rams out for UP10 5/16"x 3/4" air rams which worked great. I used Tamiya #500 grade silicon damper oil (green) as fluid. I tried all the different Tamiya grades but the 500 viscosity worked best, tried other fluids as well.

The single UP ram at the servo end is driven by an 8511, to avoid sudden load on the hyd system and servo I run a 1.26 sec servo slow on nws which gives a smooth progressive feel and makes the taxi look great.

As a matter of interest my aircraft weighs 19.90kg fully fuelled and on the Xicoy balancing scales shows a weight on nose wheel of 5.266kg.

So...probably no help in solving the CARF issues but gives some insight into the fact hyd nws does work with a bit of tinkering and experimentation.

I have it. Just haven't put it together yet. What we did is create a trunion that utilizes a pull pull system. I don't have it installed yet.

Working on the last part on mine Gen 1. Modified with nose servo steering

What about CG and setup? Slats airbrakes, speedbrakes elevator stab trim etc

Any suggestions from those who has experience on this model ?

Anyone that can help me with a manual so I can finish my second hand A4?
The plane is ready so I do need suggestions for CG, deflection, how to on the speedbrakes, slats etc
