hi

a fellow jet flyer from our club is having problems with his skygate hawk

the turbine shuts down when is on a knife edge fligth, so we built a roast like machine to recreate the nife edge flygth and test it on it, but didnt fail, so we think we mised the speed factor that pushes the fuel backwards

we will try to tilt the machine a little to recreate te speed factor and see what happens


please give your opinion

we already changed the fuel lines and double checked fuel tanks, changed al festos and uat

we are runnung out of ideas

please advice

Hello:

Could you post pictures of your setup ?
(clearer idea of what might be wrong)

Are you using a filter?
(Sometimes they trap air in them, even when purged)

How is the filter installed ?
(it might release the trapped air into the fuel line when in a certain position)

When the flameout occurred, did you see if there was air in the fuel lines? where are they seen ?
(Could tell you where the leak might be, between engine and solenoids, between solenoids and filter, etc etc. )

When the flameout occurred, did you see if the UAT had air or was it a little empty?
(Indicates that air is reaching the UAT either from the Main tank from the clunk not dropping into the fuel in a certain position. or a leak in the hoses, what are you using for a fuel dot ?)

When the flameout occurred, did you see the error on GSU ?
(Might be that the flameout is not related to air, could be electrical)

please post pics.

double check all wires for short or damaged insulation. could be a wire that shorts out when it shifts during flight.



Im sure someone else can pitch in with ideas.

I would try to raise the nose significantly on your "roaster" setup. In a typical knife edge the fuse isn't straight . I would also make sure to use the same throttle setup. You could also use a leaf blower to simulate air in the intake.<div>

Size of Turbine? Type of UAT...is it solid material or plastic?

Larger fuel lines and a "flexible" UAT along with high throttle demand will eventually cause UAT collapsing and air bubbles. I have gone completely to rigid UAT's like the Tom Cook Air Accumulator. There are others or you can make your own...but that is a possible issue. I have had this issue myself and the cause was the UAT being sucked in over the time of the flight and eventually, pulling the UAT walls completely together, causing fuel starvation to the turbine and then BAM...flameout!

wrong speed doesnt matter. acceleration does for fuel movement backwards.

so you are fine with your test frame

is there smoke from the tail when it shuts down? if there is it may not be a fuel problem
