Enlighten me! - Multilight-Mini setup

I have one of the airfighter/Flugmodellbau/Dreamworks Multi-mini lighting module with a number of lights, etc.

Has anyone else used one of these and if so how did you find the programming? Any tips?

Get with Todd, he knows those things inside and out.

Yes Todd knows this one as he has helped me out over skype video once.. I must admit though, they are not very intuitive to program.

RE: Enlighten me! - Multilight-Mini setup

I tried the unit (including stumbling through the programming). I finally figured out how to get 3 (not the default 2) landing lights, 2 (not 3) nav lights, and a strobe. Nav and strobe came on when the throttle trim was raised, landing lights controlled by the gear switch.

In addition to the unit being a lot bigger than the EVO-5, it also seemed to use a lot more power. I "upgraded" from the EVO-5 because it only had 5 outputs and I needed 6 (I'd soldered 2 landing lights to the same output to make it work but that isn't supposed to be good for the unit) and I wanted two inputs (throttle and gear) to control the lights. I found that while the EVO-5 and a 1200mah battery lasted for a full day's flying (5-6 flights), after about 3 flights with the multi-light mini the landing lights would start to flash and the battery voltage was low. I ended up switching back to the EVO-5 and used a micro switch to control the landing lights.

Regards,

Jim

P.S.: Todd was a lot of help with programming the unit. Long live Dreamworks!!!!!!

the changes in programing described in the manual its done by diferent pulses and you can do that with a help of a chanel controled by a triple swich,...and if you ever fed up like me here is another option way easyer to use with 3WAtt outputs http://www.details4scale.com/Multi%2...%20systems.htm

good luck

Guys, thanks for the input. I'll definitly contact Todd but I'd like to get it setup first so I have something to talk through with him. What are you using for a power supply? Rainer had told me a 2S lipo would be OK, but I read in the notes to keep the voltage at 6.0V max.

Also, are you using a separate power supply for landing lights vs. nav/position lights? If so, how are you wiring that one...via the channel current input?
