Who's Thin-Skinned??

Mudbug Dave:

I can spot David G. the Gas Flow and Vigilante article(not that I agree with his conclusions).....but that nasty little quip in the JWM article, and the whiny, self-righteous lead post in this thread demand retraction.....so speaks the Judge! Let the order stand!

Get serious.....a Phantom fin didn't catch up with this globe-trotting author, and he has to make sure everyone feels his hurt by cheap shotting BV not only in the Jet Rag, but also on RC Soap Jets..... That makes me  or maybe :p or maybe :D

Hi,
If Bob is so upset, I'm sure he'll pull his advertising from RCJI, just like he did here on RCU and thereby teach RCJI a "lesson". As thin skinned as he is, I'm surprised that he doesn't have something in his advertising contract that states that anything written or implied about BVM, other than positive comments, will result in termination of the contract.

Why did BV pull his ads from RCU?

Congradulations, Mr. Gladwin,

You've succeeded in getting people to read your magazine articles.

Sounds like great journalism, to me :D

I think you hit the nail right on the Head Johnny! :stupid:

I've read the article, made my own conclusions, the only thing I'm missing is the e-mail from BV. It's a public forum, let's see it!

During the latest Gulf War, the mod's were asked to ensure that RCU stayed RC focussed, and did not get turned into a clone of CNN-online. We were told to remove any & all war related posts in order to retain our RC focus. We did so (often to the outrage of RCU members who felt that they should be allowed to discuss anything they wanted, RC-related or not).

Fellow RC jet jock Buck Garza took some photos of his full-scale F18 (he's a Marine F-18 pilot) with a "Bombs for Saddam, courtesy of BVM Jets" logo on some of the ordinance. As a friend of Buck's, as well as an ex RAF pilot, the photos did appeal to me. However, when those same photos showed up on RCU as part of the next BVM ad, I realized that we had a problem on our hands ... we were following the orders from RCU management about deleting war-related posts, pics, etc, yet now we had an ad that was war related.

This clearly would bring out accusations of "one rule for BVM, one rule for the rest of us". I discussed this dilema with Marc ; he said that the contradiction here had gone un-noticed when he accepted the ad, but that he would address it ASAP. Marc contacted BV and asked if the ad could be replaced by something that was not war related. I am not sure exactly how BV was given the message, but it is quite possible that he reached the same wrong conclusion that several other people on RCU did, that Marc was censoring the ad as an anti-war statement, rather than doing it to eliminate a discrepancy between what was allowed in posts & what was allowed in ads.

BV did not agree with the request to change his ad, and in the end he & Marc simply decided that the best course of action for now was for BVM & RCU to each do what they felt was right - namely RCU now vets ad content (which was not done previously) and will sacrifice ad income if necessary ; BV elected to put his ad dollars elsewhere, where he can chose the content more freely. AFAIK the parting was amicable.

Hope that helps kill off some of the rumors.

Gordon

I read the articles and:

I'm sorry but I think the BVM camp is way to thinned skinned. All the man did way make a few suggestions to possibly avoid disaster for a few modelers.
It was his opinion!
We all know there are pilots that are flying planes with more power than the design allowed for. Are they flying in the planes designed envelope or hanging as much power as will fit on the aircraft.
If this was some other manufacturer , the BVM camp would all be singing in the same key how right on he was.
Sorry ,but I get tired of the bashing of manufacturers other than BVM.
Lighten up and have fun!

All i have to say, is that if anyone ever acuses BVM of any wrong doing, he and his little elves will be after you ... DARE NOT ANYONE SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT BVM !!!

Man, I can start blaspheming about God on on this forum and no one would care, but dare we not mention anything bad about BVM, or dare even imply a product may be flawed ...

I don't know, sure sounds like a Dictorial/Communist attitude to me

I was not refering to the fin in particular (i have no reference or info on that incident) , just to the overwhelming horing over and protecting BVM.

So it's ok to be Anti-BVM but not Pro-BVM eh? People who disagree with BVM are just voicing their opinion, but if you support BVM you're just one of his little elves?

Nice double standard Woj.

BV's Elves or is that Elfs?

I never thought of you as a little elf.....do you lead a double life or something? :D

Flawed Test

I could have told BV that my pipe test was only to find the most quiet pipe---And left it at that...

I did not correct my test due to being brow beaten by BV. I corrected the test due to not reporting all of the facts and variables correctly as pointed out . It wasn't the first time I had been given the evil eye by BV. I've modified many of his designs to suit my needs and have received a lecture as to why this is OK or not. It is not that BV is thin skinned, LOL, it is the ones complaining of the BV scrutiny that are thin skinned. If you know you're right, TAKE A STANCE AND STAY WITH IT!!! If you are wrong, make it right and go on. I do believe that Mr. Gladwin is wrong in his assessment of the BobCat. If he chooses to change the servos in HIS BobCat, that is his prerogative. If he then chooses to write about these changes in a magazine and say that his way is right and the manufacturer is wrong......YOU HAD BETTER BE PREPARED TO BACK IT UP----NO MATTER WHICH MANUFACTURER IT IS!!!!

no, just don't shut up everyone who complains. Hey, look through my past posts , i have said good things about BVM too .. Hey, I have owned 3 of his planes ! and i do think he has a great product, but its when someone can't express themselves about a manufacturer (opinion or fact) thats just wrong ...

I dont see you defending GreatPleanes for all the bashing that gets done of their products !!!

Open your minds !! im sure you all are not that old and stubborn !!!

You guys need to spend more time flying and less time bull$@iting on this thread. Do all your bosses know your waisting company time on this BVM soap opera stuff? Sometimes I would just like to stop logging on to this forum and not come back but I feel I might miss something important relative to jet modeling in general. You know like a great building tip or something of that nature. Not this bickering and bashing of Chevy vs. Ford all the time. IMHO companies like BVM, Jet Model Products and Yellow Aircraft are here to stay , Most of the other companies are out of a garage somewhere and are an inch away from " where did they go with my money" So if one of these companies wants to try and protect their interest I feel they are just in their attempt. Putting it on a public forum is just bellyaching in my opinion. BV didn't get on RCU to say his piece, he sent a private letter which in turn was blasted all over the world on the net. If I have a problem with someone I take it up with them not ask everyone else what I should do. Call me a BVM suck @$$ but he'll be here tomorrow and some of these other experts won't. And last but not least, if you think you know it all maybe you should build a kit for market that has all the answers and show us all how to do it.

Will Rogers said it in a nutshell

So to take it from one more celeb: Elvis

"A little less conversation and a lot more action. "

Or REO Speedwagon"

"Talk is cheap when the story is good"
