Are we there yet?

RE: Is this for real?
I think it is a normal turbine with a windmill fan in front of it.
I still can't believe they are running plastic SLA fans in front of those things! |
RE: Is this for real?
Seems to me it's just a fan mounted in front of the turbine, but not connected to it. The suction makes it spin. In the last few second you hear the turbine running but the fan is stationary.
Regards, Bart. |
RE: Is this for real?
oh no they didn't! That is just adding dead load to the compressor? Free spin?
Looks really cool though. |

RE: Is this for real?
I think there are a bunch of guys already flying this same type of system, both on Mibo and Skymaster.
Well, a "bunch"...maybe more like 2 or 3. And I have heard of some fans coming apart |
RE: Is this for real?
I have a set in my Mibo A-10, they are machined out of Aluminum, P160SX, it flew great and no heat issues. Joe C!!!

1 Attachment(s)
Just free wheeling fans, Skymaster have the same set up on their A10, I've run the engines to full power and no problems yet. The ones in the below photo are done on a 3D printer, they work great.

RE: Is this for real?
I ran my mibo fans on the ground plenty of times and at full power, no problem, when i flew it, they blew up, thank God I had FOD screens, the new Alum machined work great, no issues. Joe C!!!!

RE: Is this for real?
Hi Paul,
I am not clear on the process but someone said the material is ABS. Although we used some new ABS "like" material (at my old job) that was very nice, IMHO this is still an extreme application of RP ABS. |
RE: Is this for real?
Matt
If it is ABS then I would suspect it is FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) Interesting application..[X(] Paul |
