Emcotec DPSI BMS power switch...

Just switched my Jr 10x over to Fasst. I will be using the Futaba R6014 receiver with an Orbit Powerjack and I am thinking of using the Emcotec DPSI BMS 2 Channel power switch. Anyone have field experience with this switch. I will be using twin Electrodynamics A123 2300mah packs.

why sp fancy of a switch why not just the one at bottom, powerbox smart switch?

RE: Emcotec DPSI BMS power switch...

It would take two switches and the Emcotec is better suited for the connector/ wiring arrangement for the Orbit Powerjack.

yeah sorry I was just looking at that, yeah im going to run the power jack on my 14 channel receiver as well. after looking I would like to try it myself, no need for any kind of major power system with the orbit and you can just plug two duralite IONS right into it.
thanks bro you just helped me decide something :)

A little more info offered here... http://shop.rc-electronic.com/downlo...ung_V10_EN.pdf

Don't forget to order the accessory package, as it doesn't look like the cables are included with the switch.

I have been looking at emcotec stuff, german guys usually make good stuff, what size jet is this for? mines 1/6 scale f-16 I am still trying decide on a battery to run for my receiver. I cant decide on Ions like my giant or maybe just try A123s for the 1st time.

Guys

This is not a switch, but a batery monitoring system. It shows the bat. voltage, min\max voltage during flight, etc.
Not an on\off switch.

Cheers,
Ziv

Thanks for turning on the light. After reading into it more, I now see you are correct.

There is a switch version called the BIC.

RE: Emcotec DPSI BMS power switch...

Sorry but NO.

The BIC still requries an external switch to operate as an on\off switch.
Simply read the manual.

for small jets the BIC is the perfect double battery controlled, regulated output and all the important informations like current and voltages and battery (mAh) used..

and is one battery is dead or not connected..it makes sure you ear it!!! ;)

and no, there is no need of external switch on the BIC...you can add it, but is not mandatory ;)

in the last version, the come completes with the wiring BIC-RX included and spare battery plugs

ZivBit, Sorry but YES:D

From the website:

Dual battery supply system with electronically on/off-switch and constantly regulated output voltage (5.9V).

and

An optional external switch allows for applications where no direct access to the pushbuttons of the DPSI BIC is possible.

I use the BIC system on all my jets. Brilliant system. They also do an excellent active (programmable ) Y lead.

I guess you are right on the BIC...
I have the old version one (BMS)

Good luck with it.

BTW - Boomarc.com have some great new switches with LCD monitors in them. Have a look here. I use one in my jet and its great.

Cheers,
Ziv

I use the BIC in my jets, I have a BMS to use with another jet that already has much of the BIC stuff built into the Rx. The BIC is a switch in itself, the external switch is just an option. The BIC is superb.

BIC and BMS are different things, not an old and a new version of the same thing. BIC is a switch with a regulator, two battery inputs but one output albeit with a twin lead. Thus in the BIC there is a commoning of the circuit. A 2-channel BMS has two totally separate circuits with no electrical common between them, so two inputs and two outputs, no switch, no regulator. I will be using one BMS channel to monitor the main battery input into the rx that has its own regulator and redundancy arrangement, and the other BMS channel to monitor the reheat LED lipo.

I had that in my small F-4 John, it's an excellent device.
I really like Emcotec stuff.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess what threw me on the BMS is that it was listed in the switch section on the Dreamworks site and I did not read the info properly. The BIC seems to offer all the bells & whistles of the BMS and still perform the power supply function. Sadly, Dreamworks does not seem to offer the BIC... at least its not listed.

John, do you still use a p/box with the bic switch?

Regards,

Gary.

I use it in my Sebart SU 29 2,6 along with Powerbox LiPo batteries. Works fine for me.
