Gp-15

Hello guys

I just bought a used gp f15 and well its kinda heavy its about 5.5lbs empty

know if i put my .40 on it it is going to be 6.5lbs so i am thinking all up weight will be about 7lbs 5 oz or so

but i got a high proformance .40 i am getting (16500) with a 10x7 prop

i would like to know how well its going to fly ? and what are some of the flight charteristics of the plane ..

if my .40 wont pull it ill put my irvine .61 in the nose of it

just would like to know some input so i dont go to the field and end up not flying

thanks guys

GP F-15

You'd be surprised how gentle the airplane is. It has a rather large frontal area and low wing loading which makes it a slow airplane.

I know it looks like a jet but it doesn't fly like one. If you'd put that .40 on a patriot you would get a lot of speed. On the F-15 you'll get a lot of noise.

Actually I quite like the F-15. I think it's a neat kit but it's too slow for me :D

SPEED

I have one that has an os 46fx on it. It wasn't ballastic with speed or anything but i would guess to say that she would do about 65-80mph.

On takeoff you have to hold the up elevator to get it to rotate.
First few attempts I tried were unsuccessful because i wouldn't hold the up elevator. Not full up elevator but pretty close.

As far as aerobatics....well there is not many this plane will do. but it will roll with rudder only. Anytime i tried a loop it would always flop at the top of the loop. it will knife edge very little, but the rudders want to over power the ailerons so it is a constant battle.

Landing is a breeze. Keep a little power on through the upwind turn. Just as you start to approach the the runway...chop the the throttle and let it glide in with some up elevator. You can flare it just before touchdown for a good landing on the mains with nose to follow.

Looks kewl for a little while.....but after 10-15 flights with mine, I lost interest in it. It now sits in my GARAGE waiting to get scrapped.

mine flew very well.
i had a os46fx with a tuned pipe. loops rolls, knife edges
and even flat spins were done with mine. for the flat spins i had to add some tail weight though. i kinda miss mine

Jett-46?

Go with the 50 same bolt pattern I think....and more power!

A YS-45, Webra-50 or Rossi-45/53 would be great also-
