Good Ali save.
Not sure what went wrong but a good save by Ali.

RE: Good Ali save.
It looks like an unplanned "snap" while trying to do some knife edge flying. The "save" was absolutely outstanding, Ali made it look like part of the flight routine!!![:-]

RE: Good Ali save.
Something to do with control surface masking caused by the tip tanks and the nose up attitude during KE - so some more educated friends informed me ;)
Great save too, and done I understand with total calm. marcs |

RE: Good Ali save.
It just looks like it was un-planned. Im sure ali has some sort of super secret wing tip thrust vectoring control to be able to do these summer-sault tricks. Hah j/k
Amazing flying by IMO the smoothest and best pilot i have ever seen fly. |

RE: Good Ali save.
Exiting the famous tripple-snap gear down manover inverted is pretty impressive ^^
|
RE: Good Ali save.
USAF had a restriction on doing side slips in the T-33 probably due blanking of the wing.

That is no accident, that is actually part of his routine. He fakes radio problems then saves it, blames it on 2.4 and becomes the hero.
I've tried that trick, unfortunately I am still working on the return it safely portion of it. :D Good save the queen! |
RE: Good Ali save.
That trick isn't limited to the Skymaster T-33, I still do that about once a year with my old BVM T-33, usually on a slow speed point roll and using too much rudder, a touch the elevator on the 3rd point of a 4 point roll ends up with the inverted exit, takes 1/2 to 3/4 turn to stop it and get it under control. Ali, you sure took that one way DEEP beyond the edge of the envelope, a few times, nice job of never quit flying the airplane.

RE: Good Ali save.
You should be in the real thing when it does that...quite a ride. In pilot terms it is a "departure from controlled flight". The T-33 had some real nasty characteristics when it departed. In my old squadon we had a "departure book" which described the stall characteristics of every jet in the squadron. Before an air to air sortie we briefed every jet assigned to the mission so we knew what to expect from our jet if we "departed" it. I liked it....after a guy departed he then became a real easy target!

RE: Good Ali save.
Im theorizing Yaw induced departure.. most airplanes have the least amount of margin in yaw due to design, and externals. the T-33 was notorious for it. Good save getting it flat and flying.

Nice piece of flying, Ali !!!

RE: Good Ali save.
Nice golf clap from the gallery. Seriously guys? Really people? The guy pulls out of a triple snap inverted with gear down 16 feet off the ground, and there's like a murmur of approval....barely. Really?. :D. I actually think the guy in the blue hat in the gallery actually claps with one hand under his green blanket. We will leave that one alone.. [:-] who are these people????
I would have started the wAve for him. Even lucky Pierre would have been impressed! And the French aren't easily impressed...:D Shaz |
RE: Good Ali save.
That's called a triple lindy. Never seen one til now. They usually end in a fireball.

RE: Good Ali save.
Ali, YOUR FIRED, what were you thinking doing a knife edge with the gear down. I think he should have been in the pattern to land if the gear didn't go up. fix the problem and go back up and do it right. 100% pilot error. I hope he bought a lottery ticket that day.

RE: Good Ali save.
that was amazing definitely a high speed snap of some kind

RE: Good Ali save.
I was flying at the same show, and spoke to Ali after the ‘incident’.
As you know, the gear was down. His feeling was that the UC doors (which have a considerable area) caused the problem. The plane flew perfectly afterward. Still a great save. [8D] Well done mate. Paul G. |
