<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Hello one and all this is my version of the Ferrari of jets YF 23 http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ular_smile.gif. No its not from Mike Downs plans that are scaled up. But my own orginial version. </span>My plans are that it will be using between twin P-120-160 or if you want a rocket on wheels then twin P-200. Please do not ask me for plans as I do not have any this is being done with 3 views and some dimentions thats it. Also do not ask about about kits as I do not know what the actual cost will be too early in the project.

Invertmast (Thoms F14) check out his thread lots of information on their. He will be cutting me some bulkheads as he know what excatlly what I need and want. I do not have the tools to make them in my apt. The only current issue I have is trying to figure out what the airfoil should be. I have spoken with Thomas and give me some ideas that will be trial and error like everyone know scratch building is a process and a science. I hope to get some more info in the next couple of days so I can get started with a rough draft printed at Kinko's</span>

1badF14,
There is a set of declassified YF-23 plans availible with, fuse cuts,cg settings, airfoil and such. I down loaded it and will look for it.

<font size="4">UPDATE....</font>
<font size="4">
I am enlarging the information I have then sending it off to get my wood bulkheads done.
I will be working on several ideas.

</font>
  1. <font size="4">Sheet plank then fiberglass</font>
  2. <font size="4">Use pink or blue foam then fiberglass</font>
  3. <font size="4">Just use PVC sheet as planking</font>
<font size="4">Each one has it pluses and negatives and cost.Remember we will be making a plug the a mold
We must make sure we maintain a true and align plug. Also we must make sure we try to be able
to make sure there is a lot of information on the plug, hatches. Remember there is no panel lines or rivets
etc. This was state of the art. Stay tuned....

Yes she is. They also tried to sell the F-23. But the Navy instead went with F-18 Super Hornet
On the Navy version the aresting hook wood come out a set of inclosed doors. But then again
we have the F-35 but thats another story

Dave is very busy with his real job, he has developed this jet through three protypes.

Actually Mike Downs started the project and I think after 4 years Dave purchased everything from Mike and then if I am not mistaken David has 3 proto types

<font size="4">UPDATE

Went to Kinkos today and when I printed the 3 views it came out to 28"
Now I need to figure out how to go from 28" to 116-120" Ok I know if I enlarge the
print to 26 * 200% will give me 52" and * 200 will give me 104 but to go from 104 to
116-120 what would be the percentage [:o]</font> <font size="4">If someone know please help</font><br type="_moz"/>

No disrespect to your building efforts, however, i think these things and all it's cousins are some of the ugliest warbirds ever conceived. No Ferrari in the styling dept for sure. [:@]

I agree the arresting hook is concealed and then retract out of a compartment.. Think of when the AF uses the drag shoot

<font size=''4''>UPDATE

Went to Kinkos today and when I printed the 3 views it came out to 28''

116-120 what would be the percentage [:o]</font> <font size=''4''>If someone know please help</font><br type=''_moz''/>
A very simple way of calculating scale percentages needed:

1.- Divide the desired wingspan by the drawing original one -in the same units, of course- and check the result.

2.- If the result is higher than 1.00, you need magnification as follow: every unit added to the 1 equals to 100% and then you have to add the two decimals to that figure as tens and units. In your actual case you need from the originak drawing to your desired wingspan 120/28 = 4.29, this is 3 units over 1 and then 29 as decimals making a total magnification of 329%.

3.- If the result is smaller than 1.00, you need reduction as follow: substarct to 100% the two decimals as tens and units. For example, if you get 0.65 that equals to a 100-65 = 35% reduction.

Please, bear in mind not every copying/resizing machine work with a floating or free magnification/reduction value and it is possible you may need playing a little with actually available values till finding the best option for getting the dessired size.

For the final sizes you comment the value should be: 120/104 = 1.15 or 15% magnification as a porcentage. Hope this helps you.

Finally a last word regarding different spellings we have, at least, in Spanish lenguage but think that also is appropriate for English: It is just not the same magnifiying a 200% (the copy is 3 times the original size) than magnifiying to 200% (the copy is just 2 timer the original size).

Jesus Cardin

Thanks for the link that will come in handy when I detail out the YF23

John Travis

I agree with you and like I said some may not like the YF23 just like some may not like the P51
But that's my opinion<br type="_moz"/>

Old thread I know...but did anything ever traspire from this? If so, I'd love to see the pics...as we all would! :)

I have a small foamy version( Lanxian model) who fly very well on 6S and 2 70 mm fan. I love the shape of this elegant plane, mine is small and you have to be 100% on , sometime very hard to see....
