BVM HOT SECTION PAINT....THINNER NEEDED.
I have some of the hot section paint and need to know what to use to clean up and thin it with if needed. Two calls in to BVM today with no luck. Time is wasting and I need to spray. The info sheets with the paint and online instructions make no mention of this.
What kind of paint is it and what is used to clean the spray eqipment? Lacquer thinner, something different? What? Thanks. |
RE: BVM HOT SECTION PAINT....THINNER NEEDED.
I would just use lacquer thinner...should clean just about anything....but hey I could be wrong...:D

RE: BVM HOT SECTION PAINT....THINNER NEEDED.
its water based, says it on the can, so u can thin it and clean up with water.
I would not thin the paint its suppose to be thick thats why it works :) If you talking about the BVM ceramic heat shield paint that is. |
RE: BVM HOT SECTION PAINT....THINNER NEEDED.
Fender is right. It is water based and supposed to be brushed on. It would be far to thick to spray through any normal paint gun. As I understand it the paint has a special heat resistant additive that builds up in several layers to give protection. It is the goes on almost like tooth paste..

i think what furloughed ual is asking about is the paint that bvm sells as the hot section paint meaning the detail paint for the outside of the tail cone called hot section paint , which is most likly a lacquer based paint but just a guess

Not the ceramic heat shield. The problem with "trying" lacquer thinner is that I just got a brand spanking new top of the line $400 spray gun and I ain't about to screw it up with some magical mystery paint that dries in the gun AFTER I find out Lacquer thinner isn't the ticket. |

Lacquer thinner is the answer. Used this stuf a number of years ago alot. Cleans up real easy.

Thanks. I was hoping that was the ticket, but didn't want to screw up a expensive paint gun "experimenting".

Ryan, Bring the paint and your fancy paint gun up here, I'll GLADLY hose it up for you:D Once I get it figured out, I can use it on my Panther[8D] the sandman [/quote] Yep, that's the stuff.
