Was closing the following thread fair / warranted?

The thread was closed because the matter was already being discussed in another thread. I stated this when I closed down the thread. It's very clear as this is the rule here on RCU concerning matters such as this. It's not open to discussion to whether it was fair or not, it's the RCU rules.<div>

Forget this, fix the scratch and be grateful that you are the guy that can land without causing a mess.

Well and argument could be made that the second thread (the one I started) was an opinion poll about "So what would you do in this situation", the original thread was a Wanted thread titled "Wanted - Powerbox Cockpit" , which I though was against RCU policy, unless of course it has changed but that's besides the point at the moment. As I stated, the first thread reminded me of the incident in which I happened to have photo evidence of....

The reason I started the second thread is because I realized that my posting would cause the original thread to go off of topic; hence the on topic nature of the second thread....

Therefore I do believe that the second thread should not have been closed down hence the topic of this thread;)

Besides that, the original thread poster let his feeling be known that he didn't want the topic to continue on his thread (which I fully understand and support) and he stated that he asked for his thread to be closed, not my thread.
When I looked at his post this morning I saw that he edited it to remove the request to have his thread closed... Which is also fine by me.

What didn't sit well was the closing of my thread without even a PM explaining the reason.

I did not send a PM to you about the closing of the thread because I posted the reason in the thread itself as to why it was closed.

In fairness I am going to lock the original discussion in the "Powerbox" thread. I will reopen the second poll thread in order to allow discussion to continue. But know this, if some of the childish nonsense posts continue in the thread it will get closed back down. the topic needs to be discussed on a mature and civil level, and if that doesn't happen I'll close the thread.

Since this matter is now resolved I am also locking this thread as well.
