I would like to know if the bmt 120 is a good turbine?I have other brand of turbine but can't fly them at this time for ecu problems.

I have three BMTs and they work great. The start up setup is one of the easiest to work. If you ever have any problems with the turbine needing worked on Mickey at A1 Hobbies is the best.

I have a BMT 120-KS. Mine is yet to fly, but that will happen very shortly.

I have run mine many, many times on the bench and in the plane (a Super Reaper) and the kero-start works like a dream.

I'll be sure to post something as soon as I have flown the plane. At the moment I am booked in for the 19th of May to get my turbine checkout. It would have happened much sooner, but work commitments have made it impossible to travel away on weekends lately.

I am have a super reaper to,I just receved it last week . the plane goes together fast.

I saw it on a bench demo at FJ this year. Looks very well made. The kerosene start is very easy from what I saw. The rep even pinched the fuel line and jammed the fuel pump to show how the idle remains steady. I was impressed but did not see it fly.
The ECU seems to be very good with many clever features. also impressive was the very simple hookup.

Hi Chris,

I know, I know. It should have flown by now, but work has been a right pain in the butt. However, it pays for my modelling problem so I can't really complain.

It should fly like a trainer. Look at the wing area compared to the Yellow F-16 in the background!

btw, how's that Vigalante coming along? Hey, if you're going to give me a hard time about being slow to get a model finished ;)

I should be talking :D

The Vigilante is progressing slowly but surely. I have just finished painting it and now I'll start installing components. Darren has come up with conformal fuel cells for it and I'm waiting for those to fit into the fuselage. Hopefully, by the end of May I should give her the maiden flight and let you know how she flies, but by the looks of her, she sure is going to be a winner.

Hi Myles,

I can't tell you a lot about the scheme. I picked that one up 2nd hand. However, I believe it was a colour scheme from the Australian Mirages.

I should be able to find out more. The father of a person I worked with was an Aust Air Force pilot and flew Mirages. He spotted the colour scheme in my workshop one day and was telling me a lot more about it. I'll ask him at work today and see if I can remember this time.

I'll also get the details of the other aircraft types he flew over the years. It was an impressive list. He spect time in the US on a pilot exchange programme and spent a lot of time in some of the century series fighters as well as flying Sabres in Korea.

Thanks Garrett! I will be getting a Mirage kit soon, and that scheme is one of the coolest I've seen in awhile!

Hi Myles,

If you are interested, I'll take some photos of the top and bottom of the wings tonight. If you ares till keen, I'll put it together on the weekend and get some of the whole model.

I have to admit, I never got around to flying this one. I'm afraid the engine, fan, pipe, servos, etc were all transplanted into other models. I'll get around to flying it one day.

I asked my friend about the Mirage colour scheme. It was used by the RAAF Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU) and the Mirage III was evaluated by this unit. Do a google search on ARDU and you will com up with a few hits. Here's a link that show the bottom of the aircraft in flight.

I also asked about which other aircraft hi father flew. The list included Mirages, F-86 (in Korea), the F-100 Super Sabre as well as the F-104. Quite a list and there can't be too many Australian pilots who have spent time in all these. He is going to ask his father more about the Mirage for me.
