Skymaster F16 with P180?

How is the skymaster f16 with the classic p180... not the RX... the original larger 180? Does this plane really need a 200 class engine?
thanks in advance.

ii have a local friend who has the skymaster 16 and flies with classic 180 it is way too overpowered he does fly it hard though
he also flies it with some armament and it does move

rhino will be nice and scale ks

Oh... I know someone who has put in a BF300 in it  :)  Wonder what that will do to the airframe?  Leave earth atmosphere I guess :)

180/200 will allow you to do high alpha passes and then go straight into a vertical. Can't do that with a 160 class turbine.

how much does your skymaster f-16 weigh? I run 36lbs of thrust in my fej f-16 and it pushes it just fine. If you plan on adding ordinance you prob need more.

I have not purchased the F16 yet.  Planning to get one soon.

You can fly the 1/6 F-16 with and without ordnance just fine with a 160 if you're just doing laps and basic aerobatics. Only reason for the 200 is slow high alpha flight and unlimited verticals.

Also think of temps around 30+ deg you need the 180 in there and no less, My old one flew in England with some stores on but oh boy when i put the big drrop tanks on, even in temps of 15 deg she needed all of the 160 to fly straight and level,
Regards Mark.

I was told there is a Pipe/Tailsection over temp problem with the Skymaster 1/6 F-16 with the P200/Mammoth/Olympus size engines... Max recommended is the P160/Rhino/Pegusus class engines... 36/38 lbs.... You might check with Skymaster on that... I know for a fact that is the case with the F-86...

Built 2 of the large SM F-86's...one P-200 powered and one powered by the AMT Oly....also had the large SM F-16 with a P-200....no overheating issues whatsoever...all 3 had Tam pipes. Hundreds of flights between the 3.

Anurag
the big 180+ engines need also more fuel so note that by using one you will reduse your fly time .

The best engines for me would be the p160sx for scale flying or now the new p180rx or the k170

I have flown the 1/6 F16 with the classic 180, using all three tanks, for years. No problems, great performance and 10-12 minute flight times......how much more would you want? It starts to get boring after that long! I did get a larger pipe from skymaster for the 180 but I have had absolutely no issues at all. Great combo in my view. It performs the way a 16 should. Ask Tor from Norway, I think he upgraded his to a 180 and has never looked back....he loved the extra power.

Hope that helps.

Craig.

RE: Skymaster F16 with P180?

Actualy i was thinking an 8 min flight time with only the two of the three tanks to be used for the engine and the third for smoke.

...at least this is how ill set up the one i just got

RE: Skymaster F16 with P180?

Hi Anurag!
I have had 2 SM F-16 1:6 models, the first one flew about 150 flights with a GBooster 160 turbine, and I just loved it. I did not have any ordnance
on the plane, but I did have lights, afterburner ring and water injection for the AB, so it was quite heavy, about 46 LB. I changed to a P180 (the original
one) because I wanted better verticals and better high alpha capabilities. This turbine is now in my second F-16, and it has more that enough power, I
can do almost unlimited verticals. I still carry about 1/2 liter of water on takeoff, have large batteries and the weight is about 50 LB, but it seems to suit
this model just fine. The UC is probably the best ever made for a model plane, and will take a lot of beating before it gives up. I did put in a new and
larger pipe for the 180.

I have hardly ever flown full speed with the P180 unless I take off or pull hard up, so I still get approx 9 minutes of flying time with the 3 original tanks.
It's a reliable and great turbine and a fantastic plane, so a great combo!

Good luck!
