Seeing this reminds me of the last model jet fire I saw at our local field. I was the first one to the crash site and expended my personal fire extingisher. I didn't think anything about the cost of recharging until I got the bill for $35.00 a couple of weeks later.
The owner of the aircraft never ask about my costs for recharge and if it had been my plane I probably wouldn't have thought about the cost to the people who helped fight the fire either. Just a thought, if someone helps fight your fire, remember them later. |

That's a good point. I have a Halon Fire extinguisher... and I found out how much it cost to refill it. SO... I went out and bought a CO2.
I've seen the vid, but I don't know if it was posted before. There is a longer version showing that they had issues getting the engines running. That should have raised a flag saying something was wrong. ****EDIT**** Here's the full version http://youtu.be/nMxzL7E3Z7s |

Sid, same here, a friend had a crash, I used up my extingisher, dry chemicals i had in my truck and he even melted my broom. while all the time his extingisher was packed away in his truck, never once offered to replace my loss products....

Hey mark... doesn't the AMA regs say that your extinguisher needs to be at the model, and ready for safety? Why wasn't he told to go get it before his flight??

Just a thought, if someone helps fight your fire, remember them later. ... i know things cost money, and if was the owner of that jet, i would have offered to take everyone who used their extinguishers out to dinner, or offered to have them refilled..... afterall if you can afford to fly twin turbine air craft you can surely afford to refill a few extinguishers |

I memtioned the situation above just as a reminder for those who get help. I am sure it is the last thing on your mind when you have just lost a jet and most everything in it.

I would think the velocity of the air moving through the pipe creates a higher preasure inside the pipe then outside the pipe, given a failure or a weak spot, the pipe implodes or colapses in on it's self.

LOL I was there when this happend. The field is like an Hours drive away from me Goin there tomorow for some more Jet Flyin action.

i inserted the A-10 video on fire extinguisher forum a couple weeks ago when i saw it and at the end the guy ask owner if he still going with afterburners so i believe thats what was on this Jet and you can see fuel dripping onto the runway and igniting as if his pump was stuck on..

Yes, we sure have come a long long way indeed! God bless Tam, his green beer and his rock solid and steady pipes! Beave :D ORIGINAL: basimpsn Thanks Boil [8D] , basically that's what happened. This Jet was flown first with a Ram 1000 at FJ 05 without any problem. Then artes Jet came out with their 35lb engine Rhino (Real 35lb engines) and I did some test stand runs with it without any problem. My Ram was replaced with the Rhino. The test flight lasted 5 min before the fire. After the crash we all noticed the center of the pipe imploded. The pipe that came with the jet was very thin and flimsy and was not rated for 35lb engine (now we know ;)). There was even more pipe failure from the same company. Here is another Implode pipe on my cermark Mb339. We come a long way |

HI Beave, Bernoulli's theory, only applies tothe enterance of the pipe, that's why we use a Bellmouth.A stronger pipe, sure would have been better.
