RE: A6E Intruder Test Flight
I LOVE IT!! Please tell us the dry and wet weight. How was the residual thrust on landing? 3.3lbs I believe.

One other request... Please do another vid without that goofy music LOL... It takes away from the beauty of that airplane and engine sound. |
RE: A6E Intruder Test Flight
Thanks for sharing. A beautiful model. I worked on A-6's when I was in the Navy back in the '80's. It was an amazing jet.

RE: A6E Intruder Test Flight
I'm with you Andy....Fantastic plane, however, for me personally, I could do without the music on this or ANY flight videos... I would also really like to see this beautiful plane land. If someone creates an ARF Intruder that will fly with a 120-140, I'm in!
|
RE: A6E Intruder Test Flight
I doubt you will ever see one that will fly on a 120-140. Maybe a twin!!:D The pipe and fuse length is too hard to work with at that small a scale. My A-6 will be 1/6th scale and I am hoping and praying I can get it to fly on a single 160 or twin 80's. We will see when the final weight is figured out.

RE: A6E Intruder Test Flight
Hi Mirce, I am planning on bringing this to TG. Andy the dry weight was just in at 55 lbs. I think if I did this again I could shave off around 4 pounds. Ian's comment about power and the issues surrounding it is exactly right. The thrust tube arrangement makes for reduced thrust efficiency. Kirkj, the molds will ultimately go to Mibo. George, yes it has slats. I had a problem with a servo on the left slat when we were at the field, so I locked the slats for the flight you saw in the video.

RE: A6E Intruder Test Flight
Man, 67 lb thrust Turbine!!! You're making me cry Mike!!! My goal of a single 160 is not looking good right now. [&o]

RE: A6E Intruder Test Flight
Excellent job! I had the pleasure of working at Calverton Tower for Grumman when these were being built and the Navy accepted them after delivery test flights and ferried them off. Was a non federal controller before I went to the FAA at JFK ... heady days at Grumman those days...F14's and A6's, Electric Ravens(EF111's) and EA6B's. Caught a back seat ride in an EA6B w/ the Chief Test Pilot Chuck Sewell. Great ride!
Your A6 brought back memories... Thanks! Paul |
