Blue Angels back in the sky

Hi guys,

Now that I have re-started the turbine flying in the past year, I decided to went more on it for 2012...

And so Yesterday I did it and handed over to my new little cosmetically revised XL SportJet Raptor in its element.

What can I say is just to move again this beauty Jet is gorgeous. Everything worked as it should.

After a Touch and Go start :) it went into the trim rounds through the various stages of flight.
The best Idea in the programming was to move the ailerons up with flaps down.
They can be flown very slowly and beautiful approach with gas drag on the final at landing.

That made me a little surprised at the landing. Because I had a bit throttled too much back...
But the "Rappi" forgive me that and I wanted change the nose gear anyway too a homemade towed.

The flight's just like going on rails, Jetlike, as I like it. Now I only needs the weather ...: cool:

Some data are:

Hull length: 2.85 m (112.20 inch)
Wingspan: 2.35 m (92.52 inch)
Dry weight: 18.5 kg (40.78 pounds) + 4.0 l petrol

Turbine is a 130 Hammer inside with a Hornet XPower ECU.
As tank I use since last year only Platypus Hoser. In the Raptor are 2 x 2 liter bottles. No Bubbles, no UAT needed no air supply anymore...

For Radio I use the Graupner MX20 with 2.4 Hott.
The receiver is the 12 channel GR24 and servos are JR 8411 on Aileron-Flaps, JR 8711 for the Tail and Ruder.

Now a video and some pictures. Hope you enjoy it.

Yeah it´s a "plasma" :D

It´s a [link=http://cascadedesigns.com/en/platypus]Platypus[/link] from cascadedesignes. But the best of this is it´s not like a old blood plasma tank that get hard with the time. -this thing is also after one year with fuel in it soft like a new one :D
Had it also in my Eurofighter with 3 one liter tanks parallel without one problem.

The only thing is before you refuel you must pump a bit out of the tank and than refuel to get the pair air bubbles out of fuel tube , because otherwise you get air in the tank from the fuel tube.

And you must leave a bit fuel in the tank.

On the picture is my 3 Liter Version.

Works perfect.

Did today a update on the Receiver battery, change from the eneloop to two parallel A123 Life battery to get a safer and better Voltage range.

Bye René

Yes, in the paleolitic we used to fill the airplane pointing the sky, (with a half dozen of helpers, LOL) to get rid of the bubbles.

Today is a bit disappointing to just fuel, start the engine and fly without that effort , drama, scuba tanks and helpers..;)

Hehe...it´s the same procedure as with "normal" (...what is the normal tank installation...) tank installation, no helpers no vertikal pointing in the sky nothing ;) Only refuel and start the engine :D

Yeah really boring today that you could fly more than to screw or fix a thing at the field :D:D

@jacksonretlaw-RCU

It´self build without any plans, the plans are out of my head :D It´s composite from our molds.
Wings are foam with balsa sheet and a layer of composite. Also the same with the Taileron and Vertikal fin.

So very strong airframe.

Bye René
