Hi Guys, I think Don Harris retired and his pump is no longer available. I'm going to give the TME pump a try. Available at Horizon Hobby. Bill Harris

Hi Dave,
I'm still waiting for my supplier to ship my pump. It been back order for month. As soon it in my hand. I'll send it out. I hope my
supplier don't do this to me everytime I order the pump. If so,
I think is time to have my brother in law to machine my own parts for smoke pump system.
But the cost go to be higher.

Brg,
Tam

I had try TME pump. It work pretty good in the pipe. But on the open engine set up it can't put out enough PSI to spray mist.
I current using gear pump. Same kind of pump been using for your turbine. This pump work very good to spray mist. I had my roo set up for dual smoke line. I got very good thick smoke and does not waste that much smoke fluid.
But I had little difficult time getting the pump. It been back order for over a month. Still waiting for the pump to set up a complete smoke system unit for turbine.
Now I'm thinking to have my brother in law to machine my own parts for the pump. But the biggest problem to make my own pump is cost. I got to make few hundred pump to cut the cost down.

Tam

I bought two mega-smoke pumps, the first one was DOA, and the second one was leaking. I bought the TME pump and it works great.

See picture below from my test few days ago.

First off, I am not intending to advertise my product here, but I see many people are having a hard time getting smoke pumps. I have a pump design that is suitable for a smoke system using a small speed 280 motor. For a smoke system you would probably only need to run this on 2 cells. This pump will deadhead at 50 psi on 5 cells which would be way too much for a smoke system. I also have a speed 300 pump which will deadhead at 80 psi which is intended to be a fuel pump for a turbine. The pumps are extremely small, 1 inch diameter and 1.75 inches long. the pumps are cnc machined aluminum with brass gears and come with a nice anodized finish in red or orange, your choice. More colors to come soon. Again I am not trying to advertise.

Also, not to knock the Don Harris pump, that gear pump mechanism and motor is out of a flight box pump. those motors are rather on the weak side

Mr ANdy_Paul

First off, sure sounds like an advertisment to me! Second, Don Harris pump is far from a "FLIGHT BOX" pump! You have no idea what your talking about! Funny that everyone who owns a harris pump claims it to be the best they have EVER used, incuding BV! The Harris pump does not need external batteries either, just plug it in your receiver and your done. BTW, I have NO connection to Don Harris other than having purchased his pump.

I tell you what mr Love to fly RC. I will gladly ship you all of my CNC equipment used to make these pumps, as well as give you rights to my turbine that I have designed and built, if you can prove that that mechanism isnt from a flight box pump. Again I was not intending to advertise, I was just trying to help out fellow RCers. While you are selling turbines Mr Simjet rep, I am designing and building them. So until you can state the facts, maybe try turning off the computer. Again I was not knocking his product, it probably works great, just stating the facts. I see you are moderator hopefully you wont delete my account for this post. I plan on advertising with RCuniverse soon. Just because you sell jets doesnt mean you "know everything". You never know who you are talking with on the internet. I might have design input on the next turbine you decide to buy!

Here is a pic of my turbine. 2.5 inch diameter, 4lbs thrust 200k rotor speed, thank you very much!

I got a question: Why does the middle of a turbine always look like someone took a machine gun to it, All the holes. Im sure they serve functions. Bkf

thats the cheese grater/combustion chamber!

Actually the holes serve to meter air to get proper combustion/swirl in the primary zone, the big holes in the secondary zone cool the hot exhaust gases to a temp the turbine/NGV can tolerate

I went around shopping for parts to make pump today. No luck yet.
Paul know what I'm talking about. The pump I need has to put out at least 30 PSI on 2-3 cells.

Today I try my pressurelized pump system. This was all mechanical. Using pressure from turbine gas tank to pressulized the smoke tank.
I had the servo to open the remove vale. This system work excellence. I got really thick smoke spraying out of the dual tube at full throttle in the roo.
But this system need a good tank to hold the pressure. I'm using Powermax empty bottle for smoke tank.
But not ecery airplane have the room to store this tank on board.
So electric pump is more convinent. You can use any tank to fit in your model.

I'll post my news update on smoke pump system soon.
Brg,
Tam
