Propane valve question

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys..for the past 3 years Ive always used the Coleman PowerMax propane bottles with the trigger. Now it turns out that they dont make those bottles anymore. So I bought this..(see first picture) Something tells me Im missing something. I hear guys talking about using only one click or two clicks, but I dont have a valve to click..lol.

I would like to use the Pancake tanks if at all possible.

Remember......A picture is worth a thousand words:)

thanks

Are you switching over to regular propane? If so these work great I have been using this for the last few years. It does click when you open I use 2 clicks open for my falcon and 3 click open for my Rhino.

+1

The one from DW is so simple that even a caveman can use it. :) Truly plug & play with this valve.

RE: Propane valve question

I just started using the DW valve with propane on my JetCat Titan. It almost never starts on the first attempt, but starts fine on the second. Anyone have any tips to get it to start on the first attempt?

I too love the trigger valve and I am on my last powermax supply. The trigger valve stem is not long enough to fit into the neck of the stubby cans so I ordered this valve from Altecare RC. It looks similar to the one you have but has a twist valve on the top. This valve works backwards from what I am used to. To get gas, you have to screw the knob in. So I hooked the stubby can valve to the bottom of the trigger valve and it works perfect.

If you tins now have external threads buy Airbrush propellant air tops and use that....Aztec is my favoured brand.

RE: Propane valve question

hmm 3 good ideas here. I like the simplicity of the DW Valve but I dont want to wait for the shipping.

Roy's idea works..but I dont have the valve on top like his(WHY? I dont know) so I wouldnt be able to turn the gas off at the tank.

And DaveW has the similest of all Ideas. just use a propellent top. I had no Idea they would fit. I have about 3 of them in house..so Ill have to give it a try.:)

Thanks Guys

RE: Propane valve question

My trigger valve works fine in the new cans (I used Jetboil). For it to work I had to use a dremel cutoff wheel and put a slot in the end that goes into the can. There is a plug that pushes down in the can and it blocks the small hole in the trigger valve. Works great now. Put the bottom of the valve on the can first and then screw the trigger on and it will work.

I think the valve you see on top of the can, is the one he got from Altecare. Then he plumbed it through his powermax valve.
