Jetcat ECU question

1 Attachment(s)
Hooking up my jetcat ECU today and noticed that the circuit board with the mpx connectors for the fuel pump and glow-plug/starter, moves up and down. I dont recall this happening before. Is this normal? Or should I send it in? Thanks,

Parker

I would go ahead and send it in. That doesn't sound normal to me at all.

Not normal, sed it for maintence. [8D]

Looks like that's what I'm gonna do. It's a little strange. The ecu had never even been in the air.

That is no biggie. You can take the cover off by removing the for screws and take a quick to be sure.

I can see it moving up and down on the connector pins to the other circuit board, just not sure how far down on the pins it has to be to keep a good connection. I dropped an email to Jetcat. Ill see what they have to say. Any of your ECUs the same way?

If any one else has this issue there is supposed to be a plastic spacer installed above the circuit board to keep it in place. This one either fell out or was never installed. Sent off to JetCat to have it installed. Luckily found it on the bench and didnt install it in the plane

I have had several that wiggle around a bit. If it is the whole board, then there is nothing to worry about. I called Bob Wilcox on this years ago. As other have said they usually put a spacer in there to take up the extra room. Bob told me to ignore it (as it wont do any harm) or open it up and put a shim in there. Now if the connector is the only thing moving instead of the whole board, then you have a different issue. I doubt that is the case. Call Bob, he will most likely give you the OK to open it up and see for yourself.

Yeah I sent him an email. He said there is supposed to be the plastic spacer installed from the factory. It either wasn't installed or it fell out. I sent it to him so he could take a look. The board would come nearly all the way off the pins that interconnect the upper and lower boards. Better safe than sorry I figure.
