Model Jet Turbines
Hey Guys,
Im a kiwi from down in New Zealand and I have just started a new non-airplaneproject. Im new to the whole jet thing and I just had a few questions; -What do you use to stop the rest of the plane or craft getting damaged from the heat? -In reference to the turbine, where is the best position for the fuel tank? If anyone has any good websites or books that they recommend checking out it would be very helpful if you could please say so, as I am very new to this sort of thing. Thanks, Lachlan Glass |
RE: Model Jet Turbines
I have just started a new non-airplane project. a relatively large amount of fuel has to be carried. Through necessity the fuel must be carried close to the centre of gravity so the balance is not upset too much as fuel is used. If you disregard the balance issue the position of the fuel tank can be some distance from the engine as model turbines use a pump to supply fuel. There's quite a few methods to shield the model from the heat. These include foil tape, woven ceramic blanket, ceramic paint. Models with engines mounted internally use a stainless steel pipe to direct the exhaust away from the model. Hope that's the info you need. - John. |
